Chapter 6
After the ceremony, Matilda mingled with the guests while
looping her arm through Roderick’s.
The couple seemed so intimate as if they were the only two
people left in the world.
Their matching outfits made them look perfectly suited for each
other.
Andrea turned around as the sight of them standing together
broke her heart. Just then, her phone rang.
Roderick texted, “Baby, don’t get the wrong idea. It’s just an act.
I’ll explain everything to you tonight.”
Deleting the message, she thought, “Impressive, Roderick. You
actually managed to text me while standing right next to your
fiancee.”
She turned off her phone and looked up, only to see Matilda
walk toward her while taking Roderick’s arm.
Matilda handed Andrea a gift, saying, “It’s nice to finally meet
you, Andrea. I wasn’t sure what you’d want, so I bought you a
necklace. I hope you like it.”
Chapter 6
Color flooded Andrea’s face. For a second, she felt ashamed of
herself.
Only after Matilda left did she come back to her senses.
Roderick stroked her cheek and whispered, “Go to my room
tonight.”
“Your father and your fiancee are both here. Let’s take the
chance and end things here,” she said.
He was stunned for a second before suddenly smiling, saying, “I
know you don’t mean it, Andie. You’re just so mad. I’ll give you
some time to calm down.”
Lucian went back to the country the next day, and Andrea got
up early in the morning to see him off.
Knowing she had agreed to the arranged marriage, he was
delighted.
She then went back home. Before opening the door, she heard
loud noises coming from behind the door.
Frowning, she pushed open the door and saw men and women
inside.
“My, my. Look who’s back!”
Chapter 6
“Roderick, why don’t you invite Andrea to join us?”
In loungewear, Roderick leaned against the sofa, exuding a
roguish charm. Upon seeing Andrea, he smiled, his eyes lit up by
a smile.
Feeling a bit uneasy under his gaze, Andrea said, “You guys
have fun. I’ve got to attend to business.”
However, Matilda took her hand, stopping her from leaving.
“Forget about work. It’s such a perfect day. I’ll have Roderick
double your lost revenue later. How’s that?”
Hearing this, Andrea looked at Roderick.
Instead of refusing, he said casually, “You know where my card
is.“”
The crowd buzzed with teasing cheers.
Matilda linked arms with Andrea and led her away.
Then she said, “Roderick knew I was coming back, so he had
prepared a welcome party for me in advance. He’s always so
thoughtful with me.”
Andrea didn’t know what to say. Of course, she knew Roderick
was good at dealing with women. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have

been tricked by him for so long.
Matilda didn’t mind her silence and continued, “He grew up
without a mother, which breaks my heart.
“But it’s fine. From now on, I’ll love him and take care of him.
“Andie, we have your blessing, right?”
In a daze, Andrea nodded slightly.
They walked forward till they reached the swimming pool.
Suddenly, Matilda stopped.
She turned around, walked toward Andrea, and whispered in
Andrea’s ear, “I thought you’d leave.
“After everything I’ve done.””
It dawned on Andrea that Matilda had always known about her
and Roderick.
Matilda said sarcastically, “He’s your brother.”
All color leached from Andrea’s face, and her chest heaved.
She didn’t get it. How come Matilda suddenly became so
malicious in the blink of an eye?
Chapter 6
The worst part was, she didn’t know how to retort at all because
Matilda was telling the truth.
Chapter 7
Chapter 7
She said, “I’ll leave him. I’m getting married, too.”
Matilda sneered, “You think I’d take you word for it, you
shameless bitch?”
In the next second, Matilda grabbed her arm and jumped into
the swimming pool.
It all happened so fast that she failed to react.
Sinking into water, she couldn’t even breathe.
The great commotion quickly attracted the crowd.
“Help! Ms. Turner’s fallen into the water!”
“Someone! Help!”
Roderick pulled Matilda out of the swimming pool.
“Roderick, I don’t blame Andie. After all, you’ve lived together
for years, and seeing us getting engaged is so overwhelming for her. She got jealous and did this on a whim.”
Matilda slipped her arm through his. Though her voice was
delicate and sweet, she was hinting at something.
Chapter 7
“You should find some time to have a proper talk with her. We’ll
get married soon enough, and she’s a grown woman already…”
As she looked up, she met Roderick’s glacial gaze and sensibly
stopped talking.
“You know better than anyone why we got engaged.””
The smile on her face froze as he said this flatly.
Then he continued, his words harsh, “Don’t treat me like a fool.
“This is your final warning. If you dare to hurt her again, there
will be consequences.”
After saying this, he went straight upstairs. She stood
motionless, fixing her gaze on Andrea’s room with malice.
She clenched her fists so hard that freshly done nails snapped
off, cursing inwardly, “You bitch, Andrea! Roderick’s mine! How
dare you stand in our way! I promise you’re gonna suffer!”
Oblivious to their conversation, Andrea went back to her room.
She washed up simply before collapsing onto the bed and going
to sleep.
Drifting in and out of consciousness, she was lifted up with
brutal force, which jolted her awake.
Chapter 7
“Who is it?”
In the next second, Roderick’s face came into her view.
He traced her pale face with his slender fingers so gently as if
she were a precious treasure.
“Roderick?” She was still groggy.
“Why’s he here? Why isn’t he with Matilda?” she thought.
Roderick questioned her sternly, “Why didn’t you say anything?
“Why didn’t you resist? You just let her push you into the
water? Andrea, what were you thinking? Are you stupid or
what?”
Only he knew how panicked he had been when Andrea fell into
the water. Just thinking about what could’ve happened to her
made him want to scream.
Andrea let out a derisive laugh, thinking, “What did he want me
to say?
“Would anyone believe me?
“Besides, everything happened with his silent approval. Why
bother acting now?”
Chapter 2
She took a deep breath and pushed him away. “She’s your
fiancee. I…”
Before she could finish, he gripped her slender waist, scoffing,
“What is it? Are you jealous?”
Her gaze laced with disdain as well as her evasive posture stung
him, and he was eager to do something to prove to her his true
O feelings.
Feeling his warm breath on the back of her neck, she couldn’t
help but shiver.
Suddenly, she slapped across his face hard, shouting in agony,
“Don’t touch me! You know I hate being forced!”
His expression turned icy at once. Though furious, he didn’t do
anything to her. After quite a long time, he left with his clothes
in his hand.
She breathed a sigh of relief, collapsing onto the bed.
A great headache woke her up again. Sensing she was having a
fever, she walked out of the room to fetch some medicine.
Just then, she heard suggestive sounds from the next room–it
was Roderick’s room.
