Chapter 20
“I hate it when other men look at you.”
Andrea’s breathtakingly stunning face had always made her
the center of attention, which irked Roderick a lot. He even
wished he could lock her back home so that only he could see
her.
She used to think it was because he loved her so much. Yet now,
she realized it was pure possessiveness.
In his mind, she belonged to him only, and he wouldn’t allow
anyone to have her even after he ruined her.
After entering the main venue, Roderick didn’t appear unruly
anymore and behaved like a veteran businessman.
Only the utmost outstanding figures from different industries
were entitled to receive invitations to the alumni reunion.
After Roderick took Andrea to chat with the school’s principal
for a while, someone came up to him and exchanged
pleasantries.
Taking the chance, Andrea found a seat in the corner to sit
down.
Chapter 20
There were photos of the school on the wall, and the familiar
scenes brought back her old memories.
Back then, she and Roderick had no one but themselves to lean.
- on.
Roderick was a great stepbrother as well as a perfect boyfriend.
When she first went abroad, she didn’t have any friends and
was so lonely. Also, the local cuisine didn’t agree with her. She
ended up losing quite a bit of weight during that period.
Therefore, Roderick learned how to cook their hometown
dishes for her and even went out of his way to have ingredients
flown in from back home. Aside from classes, he practically
spent all his time with her.
He did all this just to see her happy.
Even now, she still found it hard to believe those were nothing
but his act.
He had never … had any feelings for her at all?
Those beautiful memories that used to make her so happy now
only brought stabbing pain.
As she was about to shed tears, Roderick’s voice snapped her

back to reality.
“A penny for your thoughts, Andie?”
At some point, he had already sat opposite her, looking at her
with a smile.
She pressed her temples, already excelling at finding excuses.
“I’m just a bit dizzy. Perhaps it’s too crowded in here. Why don’t
you go ahead and do your thing? I’m gonna get some fresh air
outside.”
He wanted to go with her but was stopped by an old friend.
He could only nod and say, “There are so many people here. Be
careful.”
“I will.”
She walked out without looking back.
Once she was no longer in Roderick’s line of sight, she felt
relieved all over.
Somewhere along the way, his embrace that she had once
treasured became a prison.
As she looked around, nothing seemed to have changed–the
were everywhere
But she and Roderick were no longer part of them.
She couldn’t help but sigh at how great those sweet, carefree
days of youth were.
Two people could get together purely because of their love for
each other.
She knew very well that Roderick’s gentleness was merely his
facade.
But she still missed those days so much.
After all, it was the happiest time of her life.
Memories came flooding back to her so intensely, creating a
stark contrast to the cruel reality, leaving her caught between
smiles and frowns.
Lost in thought, she had a misstep in her high heels.
Caught off guard, she fell backward.
She closed her eyes tightly in terror, but she didn’t feel any pain
at all.
Chapter 20
Instead of falling to the ground, she found herself in a warm
embrace.
