Chapter 14
“It’s been so long.”
She pushed him away and lowered her head, not wanting him
to notice anything off in her expression.
Then she said, trying to brush him off, “Go to work today. When
Matilda isn’t around, come to me. Alright?”
He could only take a deep breath to suppress his desires,
touching her face.
“Fine. I’m off then. Be good, and don’t let Matilda walk all over
you again. It’ll break my heart. Hear me?”
“Yes.”
As she watched him walk out the door, she finally breathed a
sigh of relief. Then she hastily went out to the hospital for a
pregnancy test.
Waiting for the results, she was sweating bullets.
The mere thought of what she should do if she were really
pregnant made her shudder.
Chapter 14
She had fantasized countless times about starting a family with
Roderick, asking him with anticipation whether he’d prefer a
baby girl or a baby boy.
Back then, he had told her gently while kissing her lips, “They’re
ours, and that’s all that matters.”
It was all in the past now.
She no longer wanted any part of it–be that Roderick or their
baby.
Just then, her phone rang.
It was a message from Emerson.
“Ms. Rehbein, do you have a moment to sign the contract now?”
The flower shop was near the hospital, and it took two hours
before the results were out.
She replied, “Yes. I’ll be right at the flower shop.”
Emerson texted, “Great. See you there.”
Given the short distance, Andrea decided to walk there. Yet
right after she left the hospital, she bumped into someone.
With a cigarette between his lips, Bradley Preston walked

toward her with a grin.
“Well, well. Isn’t this Roderick’s sister? What a nice coincidence.””
Andrea stopped in her tracks and looked at him warily.
Noticing her gaze, he said, “You don’t remember me? We just
met the other day.”
Hearing this, she recognized him.
He was one of those people who had laughed at her when she
fell into the pool that day.
She had a bad feeling.
As she turned around to leave, he strode forward and cornered
her.
“Where are you going? I’m Roderick’s friend. Why don’t you
hang out with me?”
She said, trying her best to calm down, “Since you know I’m his
sister, stay away from me.
“Aren’t you worried he’ll come after you once I tell him about
this?”
Yet, he burst into laughter as if she had just told the biggest joke.
Chapter 14
“You’re his stepsister, but Matilda is his fiancee. If anything
happens, guess who he’s gonna side with?”
In fact, he came here especially to pick on her today. Of course,
he wouldn’t be affected by her threat.
Yet, she keenly sensed something from his words.
“Did Matilda send you here?”
He didn’t answer.
Instead, he said, “You gave Matilda a hard time again and again.
She’s always so kind, so she wouldn’t hold it against you for
Roderick’s sake. But I’m not as generous as she is. Today, I’ll
make sure you realize you gotta pay for messing with certain
people.”
Saying this, he tossed the cigarette onto the ground, crushed it
underfoot, and approached her step by step with a sinister grin.
She hid her phone behind her back, trying to call the police
while negotiating with him.
“Stay away from me! Tell me what you want. I’ll say yes to all.”
No matter what, Bradley was a grown man, and her strength
was no match for his at all. He had the upper hand, and she

could only try to think of something to stall him.
