I wanted to throw up.
“Yes, I know it’s extreme. But Elise took everything from me—my father’s love, my inheritance, my family. She deserves to lose everything too. Her company, her reputation, her life.”

Bianca wasn’t trying to help me see my real mom. She was trying to hurt her. Really, really badly.
“The beauty of it is, they’ll think it’s about the money. About the company transfer. They’ll never realize it was always about destroying her completely.” Bianca’s laugh made my skin crawl. “By the time they figure out the real plan, it’ll be too late.”
I bit my lip to keep from making any noise, but inside I was screaming. I had to warn them. I had to tell Daddy and… and my real mom. But how?
“Damon is so pathetic, begging for her help. He has no idea I’ve been planning this for three years. Ever since I found out about the will.”
Three years? But that means…
“No, he doesn’t know about his father-in-law’s real will. The one that left everything to Elise, including the trust fund I was supposed to inherit. Daddy always loved his legitimate daughter more, even when she wasn’t around.”
Wait. My mom’s daddy was Bianca’s daddy too? That made them… sisters? Real sisters?
“Of course I made sure Damon’s business failed. You think it was an accident that all his biggest clients suddenly had problems? That his investments went bad? I’ve been destroying him piece by piece, just like I’m going to destroy her.”
My hands were shaking under the blankets. Bianca had been hurting Daddy on purpose. For years. And I never knew.
“The girl is the perfect leverage. Elise might not care about Damon anymore, but she’ll do anything to save her precious daughter. Even walk into a trap.”
Trap. She was using me as bait.
“Tomorrow, when they come to ‘rescue’ her, the building goes boom. Problem solved. I get my inheritance, and they get what they deserve.”
