Flora was sent sprawling to the ground by the slap. Her face turned deathly pale. She couldn’t understand how Ethan had found out about everything from before after just one outing–and why he was so furious.
Instinctively, she tried to explain.
“I’m not lying. It’s all true, Ethan. Didn’t you ask the doctor? I really was poisoned. And the drowning- I was trying to save the princess. I never pushed her.”
Tears began to flow as she spoke, just like countless times before, her tone pitiful and coaxing.
“Ethan, don’t you believe me? How could I do something like that?”
But this time, facing her tears, Ethan only felt it was ridiculous.
He had believed her again and again, hurting Lena without ever really investigating, only because of Flora’s words. In the end, Lena was left battered and broken.
He sneered coldly as he refuted her lies.
“I’ve already figured everything out. You bribed the doctor beforehand. The servants saw you that day when the princess fell into the water. Even the assassin in the hunting grounds was hired by you. Flora, I really didn’t expect you to be so cunning, spinning me around like a puppet. If it weren’t for you, how could I have lost Lena?”
His voice grew harsher and his gaze turned venomous as he stared at her.
Flora was frightened by the icy stare, but whenever Lena was mentioned, a wave of grievance and hatred welled up inside her. She bit her lip and hissed back through clenched teeth.
“Ethan, isn’t it me you love? Lena is the princess. I’m just an unwanted daughter at Chancellor’s castle. How else could I stand by your side if I didn’t do all this? Ethan, I did everything because I loved you!”
Another sharp slap landed, Ethan’s expression as cold as ice, utterly unmoved.
Flora stared in shock as he spoke in a chilling voice.
“If you hadn’t lied to me from the start, saying you were the one dancing Flamenco that day, I would never have fallen for you. In what way can you compare with Lena? Flora, you’ve been a liar from beginning to end. Today, I’m divorcing you.”
He turned and headed for his room to get paper and pen.
Rumors were so ease to spread in Asteria. Yesterday’s wedding fiasco hadn’t even been resolved yet. If she were driven away after just one day, she would never be able to face anyone again–especially since her status in the household was already poor. If her stepmother found out about this…
Flora shivered and scrambled up, stumbling to block Ethan.
“We’ve only been married one day. If you send me away now, I’ll never have an easy life in the future! Ethan, I beg you, please don’t do this. I swear I won’t lie to you again. If you want to be with the princess or marry her, I won’t stop you. Just please leave me some way out.”
Her tears streamed down, her lashes wet with sorrow.
She had married Ethan to escape her merciless stepmother and a father who no longer loved her. If she was sent back, she’d have no choice but to return to Chancellor’s castle. By then, She didn’t know what kind of humiliation I would have to endure!
But Ethan’s mind was made up. He couldn’t wait any longer. After driving Flora away, he planned to immediately leave the country and search city by city for Lena.
He wanted to apologize and show his sincerity. Whether in a past life or this one, he would win Lena back.
His hand didn’t stop. As the divorce papers neared completion, Flora bit her lip tightly.

“Ethan, if you insist on this, then I have no choice but to prove my resolve with death. Even if I die right here, I will never part from you.”
With those words, she suddenly slammed her head against a pillar.
Blood immediately gushed out. Flora’s body went limp and collapsed into a pool of blood.
The noise startled Ethan, causing his hand to tremble and the last character to skew. He looked up in disbelief to see Flora’s eyes
closed.
A servant screamed.
“Madam has hit the pillar!”
