Chapter 14
Ethan was stunned and could hardly believe what Lena had just said.
How could she no longer like him? In their past life, she had loved him so deeply that she was willing to remain a widow for the rest of her days. This time, there had only been a small misunderstanding–how could she possibly have stopped loving him?
Ethan anxiously tried to say more, but Linden stepped in front of him, wearing that same annoying, world–weary smirk that irritated Ethan to no end.
“Earl Sterling, didn’t you hear what Lena just said? She is my wife now. I hope, Earl Sterling, you will show some respect.”
Having trained in martial arts since childhood, Linden’s strength far surpassed that of Ethan, a mere scholar. With Linden pressing him like that, no matter how anxious Ethan was, he could only follow Flora into the bridal chamber.
Once, they had exchanged secret glances, and in the past life, he had even secretly enjoyed Flora’s company behind Lena’s back. After faking his death, they had eloped overseas and held another wedding. Under the candle light, they spent countless days and nights entwined in passion.
After being reborn, Ethan often recalled those intoxicating days. Yet now, after legally marrying Flora, he felt restless, his mind filled instead with images of Lena.
The flamenco dancer he had never seen clearly before suddenly bore Lena’s face today, and he realized how perfectly everything fit.
He was determined to go back and find Lena. He couldn’t believe she could let go of him so easily.
Just as Ethan was about to rush out, Flora clung to him tightly, tears streaming down her face like raindrops on petals.
“Ethan, I know you hate me now, but today is our wedding day. If you go looking for the princess now, everyone would laugh at me? Ethan, please, help me just this time!”
Flora’s reddened eyes and pitiful expression stirred in Ethan a mix of disgust and reluctant memories from their past life. Back then, Flora had been obedient and gentle beneath him, like a tender, endearing rabbit.
Seeing that he neither rejected nor spoke, Flora took it as a sign that he still cared for her. She boldly leaned in and kissed him, letting out a shy little sound.
“Ethan, my love… just wait until tomorrow, after tonight. Then you can go find Lena, alright? Please don’t leave me.”
Flora always knew how to tempt Ethan’s interest. Ethan hesitated, despite his initial anger and feeling of betrayal, the intimate atmosphere inevitably stirred a reaction within him.
He hesitated for a while, then pressed Flora down beneath him, grinding his teeth as he spoke through clenched jaws.
“Just this once. Tomorrow, I will go find Lena and get everything straight. No matter what happens afterward–divorce or whatever- you could never complain.”
Flora nodded eagerly and held his hand to pull out her lace corset, making his breathing grow heavier until she finally tore it off, revealing a wide expanse of delicate skin.
The candlelight flickered, their shadows tangled on the wall, and the woman’s moans went on nearly all night.
Only when dawn’s first light appeared did Ethan stop. Flora lay in his arms, still breathing unevenly.
She nestled close, her voice soft and coaxing.
“Ethan, wouldn’t it be better if we just stayed like this? Even though I lied about the flamenco, if you like, I can learn and show you later. Ethan, do you only like the woman who dances flamenco and not me?”
Her sultry tone made Ethan stiffen. His desire faded instantly, and he got up without mercy, dressing coldly.
“The person I like is never someone who lies like you do. I told you, just one night, only once. Now, I’ll go find Lena and ask her everything.”

With that, he left without another word, leaving Flora alone on the bed with a look of resentment spreading across her face.
