Chapter 10
Lena decided to delay her departure by three days to enjoy the excitement before leaving. As a result, she once again irritated Linden.
He had just been holding her hand, but the moment she mentioned staying, he let go and immediately put a meter of distance between them, speaking in
a sour tone.
“You certainly seems to be in high spirits. You’re not planning to crash the wedding,
are
you?”
Lena was briefly stunned, then let out a laugh.
“What are you thinking? Why would I do something like that? I just want to see how far they can really go.”
Linden looked her up and down, then stepped closer, cutting the distance in half. He pinched her earlobe lightly.
“You’d better remember–you chose me to be your husband. If you suddenly throw me aside, I won’t let you off easily, honey.”
His hand barely moved, and though it didn’t hurt at all, the intimate word honey made Lena’s face flush with heat. She shot him a half–annoyed glance.
“It sounds so strange coming from you.”
Linden chuckled and leaned in even closer.
His features were no less handsome than Ethan’s. But if Ethan was the image of a knight, then Linden was more like a bard—with almond–shaped eyes that seemed to steal one’s attention and a dazzling smile that could make anyone lose their composure.
“Well then, to help you adjust to your new identity sooner, I’ll just have to say it a few more times. Honey… honey… honey…”
He repeated the word in a low, velvety voice, over and over again, making Lena’s face burn even hotter.
She couldn’t stand how serious Linden looked while saying such flirtatious things. She reached out to push him away, but he caught her hand, his gaze brimming with affection as he spoke in a low voice.
“We haven’t even consummated our marriage yet?”
Lena immediately understood what he meant.
A few days ago, during their wedding, they had only gone through the formalities in front of everyone. There was a banquet, but nothing intimate happened–not even a kiss after the vows.
Now that Linden had brought it up, Lena couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. She lowered her head and stammered.
“What… what are you talking about…”
Unfortunately, that charming rogue never cared much for what others had to say. With a smile, Linden bent down and scooped her into his arms, walking straight toward their room.
Lena’s face turned scarlet. She kicked her legs and pounded her fists against his firm shoulders.
“Linden! Put me down right now!”
She struggled the whole way. Thankfully, this castle had just been gifted to them by the king and no servants had been hired yet–otherwise, she would have died of embarrassment.
Linden carried her all the way into the bedroom and drew the bed curtains. Immediately, their vision was filled with a sea of white, making the emotion in Linden’s eyes grow even more intense.
Lena instinctively stepped back until her back hit the wall, only for him to embrace her again. She had the strange feeling that she could see love in his eyes.
“Lena…” he murmured as his scorching kiss descended upon her lips.
For some reason, Lena found herself unable to resist Linden’s affection. Held in his arms, she kissed him back with unexpected seriousness. It wasn’t until her lips were swollen and red that he finally let her go.
Linden’s voice had gone hoarse. He slipped off his striking white robe, revealing a lean and muscular frame that made Lena’s heart race and her cheeks
flush.
But soon enough, she no longer had the mind to dwell on such things.
The sounds from their wedding chamber lasted through the night, only quieting when dawn began to break.
Having fully indulged himself, Linden held Lena in his arms, lazily kissing the back of her neck, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.

“You… you… you’re such a…” Lena tried to scold him, but she was born of noble blood. She couldn’t bring herself to utter any crude or vulgar words, which only made Linden laugh even harder.
The much taller man buried his head in her neck, nuzzling affectionately as he spoke, still smiling.
“Lena, you belong to me now.”
Lena’s heart skipped a beat. Somehow, hearing those words from him made her feel shy.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Ethan had already started preparing for his engagement and wedding.
As the son of a duke, his bride price was nothing to scoff at. He had intentionally gone all out–buying up every fine item in the city–just to show Lena that his feelings for Flora were genuine. It was a kind of love Lena could never have, no matter what.
