- 14.
My story continued to cause a stir in the
country, and I slowly learned to let go of the
bad memories.
I couldn’t keep running away; that wouldn’t solve the root problem.
So, I decided to develop my career here.
One day, I was at an event, distributing scholarships to underprivileged children.
These were all personally funded by me.
Suddenly, Declan rushed into the venue,
holding a baby.
He dropped to his knees and kept kowtowing.
“Sierra, I know I was wrong before, but
please, can you forgive me?”
“You’ve ruined my life, isn’t that enough?”
He stared at me intently.
He really was shameless.
I walked up to him and, without hesitation, slapped him hard across the face.
“You have no right to ask for forgiveness.”
“You stole seven years of my youth. A simple ‘sorry‘ can’t fix that.”
“Sierra, but I really know I was wrong! I was
just too obsessed with Noelle back then.”
“After you left, I slowly realized that you were
already in my heart.”
His words made me want to laugh, and puke.
“Declan, now that I’m rich and famous, now
you like me?”
I stared at him.
The people around me were all yelling at him, defending me.
He looked utterly humiliated, his eyes
eventually turning red.
“I really regret it.”
“If you’re willing, we can start over.”
How laughable. Did he think this was some
kind of favor he was bestowing on me?
“Declan, I look down on you now.”
“Security, get him out of here.”
Soon, he was being dragged away.
As he left, his face was contorted in pain, and
he was screaming.
But I felt nothing.
Even though we were together for seven
years, my heart had been broken beyond
repair.
