“Ah!”
In the freezing sea, Evelyn tried to scream for help, but the biting cold water stole her breath, making it impossible to make a sound.
She struggled to swim to the surface, but the undercurrent kept dragging her back into the depths.
“I finally broke the mate bond… Am I really going to die here, in the ocean?”
The thought echoed in her mind as every ounce of strength left her body.
The crashing waves nearly submerged her. Just as she was about to lose consciousness, a hand grabbed her in time.
The moment their skin touched, a spark ignited between them.
Before darkness claimed her, one word flashed through her mind:
Mate.
Five minutes later, Evelyn was pulled to safety.
Weakly, she opened her eyes to find herself in the arms of a man.
His gray suit clung to him, soaked through, his damp hair dripping water. But none of that diminished his striking appearance.
As their eyes met, he carefully lifted her into his arms.
“Evelyn, it’s too cold out here. Let’s get you changed.”
Warm air from the heater gradually brought Evelyn back to her senses. She stared blankly at the stranger who had saved her.
“You… know me?”
She hadn’t forgotten that he had called her Evelyn earlier.
Caden smiled, now wearing a casual gray suit that made him look even more charming.
“I know Alpha Silas and Luna Rosalie.”

dinner?”
Caden smiled and nodded.
Evelyn studied him with surprise.
Anyone her parents held in high regard must be someone important–either rich or powerful.
“About what happened earlier…” Evelyn hesitated. “Please don’t mention it to my parents. I don’t want them to worry.”
“Of course.”
The two of them quickly walked back to the restaurant.
Caden was a gentleman, letting Evelyn enter first before following her after a few minutes.
Rosalie, seeing Evelyn in a fresh outfit, asked in confusion, “Why did you change?”
“I slipped in the bathroom,” Evelyn explained, lowering her head.
Caden glanced at her face, his lips curling into a small, knowing smile.
“He’s our second mate!” Rue, Evelyn’s wolf, exclaimed excitedly.
“Quiet,” Evelyn chided inwardly, though her excitement was impossible to hide.
Dinner passed pleasantly.
It turned out that he was the Alpha of the Moonstone pack, one of the most powerful yet mysterious packs in Crisanta, highly regarded by the Alpha King.
Silas had orchestrated this meeting in hopes Caden would mentor his daughter.
When it was time for her parents to leave, Evelyn made an excuse to stay behind, saying she wanted
to take a walk.
“You want to check the security footage,” Caden observed, his dark eyes knowing.
Evelyn was startled; he had seen through her intentions.
With her parents present, there were many things she didn’t want them to know.
“I need to know who tried to kill me.”

From the force of the push, it seemed like a man was behind it.
Caden stood up, his voice gentle. “I’ll take you to the manager.”
A while later, in the surveillance room.
The restaurant staff had extracted the footage from that time, but sighed in frustration.
“The person covered the cameras before making their move. Evelyn, the footage didn’t capture the moment you were pushed into the water.
Evelyn frowned. “Did your restaurant’s cameras capture this man’s face?”
The four staff members took turns reviewing the footage.
Half an hour later, a crew member shouted, “We got something!”
