Chapter 2
When the Beta arrived with Pack enforcers to subdue the disruptive family member, they found me, bloodied and unconscious, collapsed at the door of the consultation room.
Panicked, the Beta immediately shouted, “Where’s the pack doctor? Luna’s injured, and she’s pregnant. How is no one helping her?”
At that moment, I felt cold all over, teetering on the brink of death.
Hearing the shout, Adam walked out of the room.
He said, his tone self–righteous, “Nick, don’t bother with her. She’s just pretending for attention. Why else would she faint only in front of me?”
Nick and the Pack enforcers stared at him, wide–eyed, as though he were insane.
“I’m a professional pack detective. She’s bleeding this much. Can’t I tell the difference between real and fake blood?”
The Pack enforcer shouted, his voice carrying down the corridor. The crowd watching the scene began to grow.
Adam hated being the center of ridicule.
He raised his foot and kicked my already numb stomach. “Laura, even the Pack enforcers are here. Aren’t you embarrassed? How long are you going to keep up this charade?”
The blood loss had drained me of strength, but when I felt someone touch my stomach, my instincts kicked in, and I instinctively shielded it.
In my fading consciousness, I had forgotten that I had taken the knife for Carla, and I knew for certain the baby was gone.
I collapsed sideways, hitting the floor with a thud.
Someone rushed to lift me up, covering their mouth with disbelief. “Oh my God. Isn’t this Dr. Lowell? Someone, save her!”
“Alpha, she’s your wife, our Luna.”
Adam remained unmoved.
He scoffed, “Laura, you’ve hired quite the cast of extras, haven’t you? What, is it my pack’s money that you’re wasting like this?”
Leaning against the cold, hard wall, I closed my eyes in despair.
Adam, don’t you know our child is gone?
If I survive this, I swear, we’ll never cross paths again in this life.
Around me, the Pack enforcers continued urging Adam to allow me to be treated, but he adamantly refused, even mocking the officers, claiming they were part of my scheme
One of the Pack enforcers, enraged, pulled out his phone, about to call for emergency help from another pack hospital. Just then, Carla appeared,
“Laura, you’re wasting all these medical and police resources. Don’t you feel ashamed? Get
- up.
I won’t h
hold you accountable.”
Adam looked at her with tender concern. “Carla, you’re too kind. There’s no need to reason with her.”
He then darkened his expression and ordered, “Nick, drag this troublemaking woman out of here and lock her in the storage room. No one is to open the door without my permission.”
The Pack enforcers were stunned, “No. This is illegal imprisonment.”
Adam shrugged it off. “She’s my wife, my mate, my Luna. How could this be imprisonment? I’ve spoiled her, and now she’s out of control. I’m teaching her a lesson today.”

With that, two warriors obeyed his command and roughly dragged me away.
The pain from the torn wounds made me cry out in agony,
At that moment, my best friend, Nikki, who had received the Pack enforcer’s call, rushed to the scene.
When she saw the sliver knife still lodged in my stomach, tears streamed down her face instantly.
“Alpha Adam, are you crazy? You’re watching her die and doing nothing. Do you want her dead?”
Nikki was also a pack doctor, though she worked at another pack hospital
After quickly assessing my condition, she immediately called for others to move me onto an emergency bed.
Just as I was about to feel relief, Adam stepped in front of her.
“You’re not taking her anywhere. She’s hurt Carla, and she hasn’t apologized yet.”
Nikki glanced at Carla, whose face was rosy and perfectly fine, and snapped.
‘The two of them began to argue heatedly.
Lying on the emergency bed, my heart ached so much it had gone numb.
Adam, we had been bonding for seven years. Couldn’t we part ways peacefully?
Did you have to make me lose our child, nearly lose my life?
Suddenly, a shadow fell over me.
Adam strode forward. “Fine. Since none of you believe me, I’ll let you see for yourself if the knife went into her stomach or a blood bag.”
He sneered. “Laura, I’ve given you so many chances. You’re the one who threw them all away.
With that, he raised his hand, gripping the knife’s handle, ready to pull it out.

As a pack doctor, I knew very well that if Adam pulled out that knife, I would die.
But I merely spoke with indifference.

“Fine, Adam, go ahead. If you pull that life out, I’ll owe you nothing.”
I was an omega orphan taken in by the nightlock pack.
I had repaid their kindness with my life and my child’s.
“What did you say?”
Adam seemed to have not heard me clearly, his hand trembling as he gripped the knife
Taking advantage of the moment, the Pack enforcers quickly subdued him. Nikki didn’t hesitate, swiftly wheeling me away.
I couldn’t hold on any longer and passed out.
When I woke up, I found myself in a regular hospital room.
However, my body was connected to various medical devices usually reserved for the ICU.
The nurse told me that all the critical care rooms were full, and Nikki had gone to coordinate my placement
I had survived barely.
BUL…
I raised my hand and placed it over my flat abdomen. There was no longer any sign of my child’s existence.
He had stayed with me for only four months, briefly shielding me from the knife before returning to the heavens.
“Luna Laura, you know, it doesn’t matter if a woman never has children. You were seriously wounded, and you’ve delayed so long. Your body can’t handle any more stress. You should try to come to terms with it.
The nurse tried to comfort me, but I didn’t say anything. Tears just flowed from my eyes.
I would never have my own children in this life.
Seeing me cry,
the nurse hurried to get me some calming medication.
But just as she left, the door to the room was suddenly kicked open with a loud bang.
Adam strode in, his words dripping with sarcasm.
“Laura, Carla said you were faking it, and of course, she was right, How could someone who’s really injured be in a regular ward? What, you’ve hired a whole cast of extras but can’t even afford a proper room?”
I didn’t bother looking at him. “Do you need something?”
My tone was cold.
He paused for a moment, his brow furrowing. “What’s with that attitude? Do you know who you’re talking to? You hurt Carla, and now she can’t undergo three surgeries.”
“And because you pretended to be sick, now the patients at the pack hospital are causing a scene, accusing Carla of being the other Woman encouraging me to hurt you. Now, come with me. Apologize to Carla and clear things up.”
He grabbed my arm with such force that it tore at my already painful wounds.
I winced in pain, sweating profusely. “Adam, let go of me. I just had surgery.”
He scoffed. “Stop pretending. If it were really that serious, you’d be in the ICU.”
2001
He yanked me hard, and I fell off the bed.
“Crash-
With a loud crash, the medical equipment that was connected to me scattered across the floor
I could no longer tolerate it. “Adam, I won’t apologize to her, and I won’t clear things up.”
“I owe the pack a debt, but I don’t owe Carla anything. And I’ve paid my dues. So from now on, you have no right to order me around.”
Adam’s face darkened, his expression terrifying.
He swung his arm and threw me onto the ground with force.
The pain was so intense that my vision blurred, and I nearly passed out.
“How dare you say you don’t owe Carla? Back when my grandma died, if it weren’t for you spreading rumors, how would Carla have been accused of murder and made to go into depression? She lost the chance to study at the Royal Medical Academy, lost the opportunity to become the pack doctor for the Alpha king.”
“You were the one who was actually guilty.”
“You threatened my grandma, forced me to mark you, and made you my Luna.”
I curled my lip.
So this was the reason he sealed the mate bond with me but never treated me kindly
Years ago, Luna Ellen, his grandmother, had told him that if he ever made Carla the pack’s Luna, she would strip him of all his Alpha powers and prevent him from succeeding as Alpha.
To preserve his position, he had chosen me, all while maintaining a flirtatious relationship with Carla.
I sneered.
“Adam, you’re so stupid. Haven’t you thought about this? If Carla were really innocent, why would Ellen, such a kind woman, be so opposed to her?“–
Luna Ellen was wealthy but not at all snobbish.
As an omega, I was treated with equal respect.
Adam seemed momentarily stunned.
just then, Carla’s mother barged in.
“Adam, take Laura to the pack meeting now. If you don’t hurry, Carla’s going to collapse from the attacks the pack members are throwing at her.”
