Chapter 7
They said that alcohol revealed the truth
Even if Adam had once had feelings for me, those feelings were as fleeting as a breeze.
It could be easily blown away by Carla’s several words.
My severe illness, the one that had kept me in the hospital, was indeed stirred up by Carla’s instigation. But if Adam hadn’t blindly believed her, it never would have gone this far.
Neither of them was good people.
I took a taxi back to the pack house where Adam and I had lived for seven years, and I began to pack up my things.
Some of it were gifts and clothes Adam had bought for me during our first two years of bonding.
Some were things I had bought to decorate our home.
Yet, the possessions that truly belonged to me were few.
I didn’t take them with me. Instead, I had the maid take them away and burn them.
All the things that carried memories of our seven years, both painful and happy, were consumed by the fire.
Just like my feelings for Adam, which had long since burned away.
By the time Adam drove back, I was throwing our wedding album into the flames.
“Laura, stop!” he shouted.
His car hadn’t even come to a full stop, and he stumbled toward me, running like a madman.
He reached for the album, but the flames had already claimed it
Adam’s eyes reddened as he grabbed my shoulder, shaking me.
“That’s our wedding album. Didn’t we promise to take wedding photos every year and put them in there?”
“It’s unnecessary. After the third year, I stopped adding new pictures. What’s the point of keeping it?”
I said, indifferent, with no emotion in my voice
Adam looked guilty and hurt.
“Darling, next week is our seventh anniversary. Let’s take the photos, and we’ll make it all up to you. Please?”
I shook my head.
I pushed his hand away and said, “I’ve already applied to leave the pack through the pack elders. I’m just letting you know now.” Adam stared hard at me, his tears falling.
“Laura, with your condition, you can’t work in surgery like this anymore. If you leave the pack and our pack hospital, how will you survive?”
“Stop saying things in anger. I’ve already notified the police to arrest Carla. There will be no one else between us. Let’s just live our lives together, okay?”
It was impossible.
He still tried to say something to
to win me back, but the driver had already taken my luggage and opened the car door for me.
Laura, we need to leave now, or we’ll miss the flight,” the driver said.
Adam’s pupils dilated in shock.

“You’re going abroad? You’ve burnt our memories, given up on the pack, left our pack hospital, and now you don’t even want me?” he
asked, his voice shaking.
no
I didn’t answer because there was no point.
He knew exactly who gave up on whom first.
And I hadn’t given up on being a pack doctor. Right now, my body was too weak to even care for myself, let alone treat others.
So, I planned to use this time to improve my medical skills with my savings.
Across the ocean, the world–renowned Werewolf Surgical Academy was something I had always dreamed of attending
But when I became Adam’s Luna, he said, as a she–wolf, what good was it for me to be so skilled? After all, my focus would always have to return to the family in the end, so all that studying was just a waste of medical resources.
At the time, I naturally didn’t agree with his view.
But during our first two years of bonding, he had been caring and gentle with me, and I, thinking of Luna Ellen’s final wishes, let go of my ambition for medical advancement.
But when I tried to convince myself and immerse in that life, I realized his attentiveness had quietly shifted to Carla,
Now, I was single and alone.
The rest of my life would be spent chasing my dreams.
My time abroad was fulfilling and intense.
It took me a month to adjust to life here, and another six months to integrate into the local medical community.
At first, they looked down on me as a stranger, but after a few joint surgeries, their opinions began to change.
In my spare time, i also focused on strengthening my body, often running through the forest after shifting, training to restore my physical health.
To get back to the operating table and perform surgeries for my patients, a strong body and a calm, sharp mind were both indispensable.
As my life started to turn around, Nikki called me with some juicy gossip.
“Laura, you’ll love this. You won’t believe how terrible Carla’s situation is now.”
