- Chapter 6 I’ll Marry Your
Laura stood there, stone–faced, as Julieta put on her pathetic little act. After Cameron spewed his accusations, she rose slowly, her movements calm but deliberate.
Julieta, playing the damsel in distress like a pro, cranked up the fake tears. Cameron ate it up, grabbing her hand like he was her personal bodyguard. “Laura, what the fuck. do you want with Julieta?”
“With her?” Laura’s gaze flicked to Julieta, sharp enough to cut glass. “I’m dying to
know what Miss Dunn’s trying to pull with me.”
“Miss Wilson, I–I don’t get it,” Julieta mumbled, pressing herself against Cameron, her voice quivering like she was about to collapse.
Julieta’s trembling only made Cameron’s heart bleed for her more. His contempt for Laura twisted deeper, a sour knot in his chest.
Yeah, Julieta was his crush, the girl who’d saved his life back then. He couldn’t pretend otherwise.
‘Still, I ditched Julieta and got engaged to Laura, right? he thought to himself. ‘Five freaking years, and Laura still doesn’t trust me?”
Yeah, his grandpa and mom had nudged him toward the engagement, but he’d fallen for Laura too. That was why he’d walked away from Julieta.
‘But Laura fucking slipped me something, he thought, anger flaring. ‘If it wasn’t for that night, would Julieta be pregnant with my kid?!
Kid or no kid, and with Julieta’s life–saving debt hanging over him, Cameron couldn’t just ghost her. She’d even sworn she wouldn’t guilt–trip him or let the baby screw up his engagement. ‘And Laura? What’s her damn problem?‘ he sneered in his head.
He couldn’t shake the image of Julieta, pushed down the stairs, sprawled in her own blood, yelling at Laura for despising their unborn child.
That was my flesh and blood. A fucking life. The thought hit him like a punch.
Cameron’s fists clenched, knuckles cracking. The timid girl he’d once protected wasn’t so innocent anymore, and Laura? She’d lost any claim to his heart.
‘She’s the one who drove me back to Julieta, he vowed silently. ‘So don’t bitch when I use her and hurt her.
“Laura, last night didn’t teach you shit, did it?” Cameron smirked, closing the gap and gripping her throat, his voice low and chilling. “You’re so damn desperate to lock me down, huh?
“Fine. You win. Three days, and we’re still getting engaged.”
“Don’t worry, darling, he taunted, tightening his grip. “Gonna treat you real nice.”
Laura didn’t fight back, her face flushing as she struggled to breathe. For a fleeting

moment, Cameron’s chest ached at the sight, but he buried it, shoving her hard to the floor. “You better keep your ass in check for the next three days and not go
embarrassing the hell out of yourself.”
“Embarrassing?” Laura’s voice was hoarse, but she ignored the sting in her neck.
Her face was still drop–dead gorgeous, but her eyes were vacant, like she was staring into nothing.
She met Cameron’s gaze. “If I’m such a fucking disgrace, Cameron, who made me this way? I’m not marrying you.”
“What?” Cameron froze, then barked out a laugh, cold and mocking, like she’d just told a shitty joke. “Laura, what kind of game you playing now? You’re the one who came crawling to me, begging for this engagement. And now you think you can just bail?”
Their shouting match had pulled in a crowd. Nobody could resist some hot gossip, and people gaped, eating up the drama..
Cameron stood shoulder–to–shoulder with Julieta, while Laura lay sprawled alone on the icy tiles. The onlookers‘ nosy stares were like gasoline on a fire.
Cameron felt their eyes boring into him.
He was the Weaver family’s golden boy–he wouldn’t let his family’s name to be dragged through the mud in public. No fucking way.
“Laura, if anyone’s got the right to ditch this engagement, it’s me,” he said with a smug
smirk.
He jammed his hands in his pockets, leaning down, his eyes slicing through her. “You think anybody else would want you? Let me make this clear: Mr and Mrs. Wilson won’t let you walk away from this. So drop the act.”
Without another glance, Cameron turned, grabbed Julieta’s arm, and strutted off.
As they passed, Julieta tossed Laura a smug, “what you gonna do about it?” grin.
Laura barely registered Julieta’s jab. Her mind was stuck on that face.
Last night, in the dim club lighting, she hadn’t gotten a clear look at Julieta–especially not after someone slipped something into her drink.
But now, seeing the eerie way Julieta’s features echoed her own, a cold knot twisted in her gut.
“Miss Wilson!“a voice echoed.
Marco hustled back with a bag of ointment, catching only a fleeting glimpse of Cameron leaving with some girl. When he saw Laura still on the floor, his heart sank. He rushed over, helping her up. “What the hell went down?”
Laura touched her throbbing neck, tilting her head toward Marco. “Is Bowen done with his meeting?”

Her voice was flat, her face a blank mask, and Marco felt a chill crawl up
Luara was too calm–freakishly calm. Like she’d just shut off.
his spine.
He swallowed hard and answered quick. “Don’t worry, I’ll get Mr. Weaver on the phone right now.”
“Thanks,” Laura said, her tone so icy it made Marco’s skin prickle. “I need to see him.
Now.”
Marco didn’t hesitate. He yanked out his phone and dialed Bowen’s number.
If interrupting Bowen now meant getting his ass chewed out or his paycheck gutted, tough shit–he’d deal.
Laura was acting way too strange, and he wasn’t about to mess this up.
After the call, Marco steered a stone–faced Laura toward the exit. “Miss Wilson, Mr. Weaver’s wrapping up in thirty minutes. Let’s get moving!”
“Fine. Thanks,” Laura muttered, giving a nod.
Seeing Laura like this, Marco mentally lit a candle for Cameron, the guy who’d pissed her off.
‘You’re in deep trouble, Mr. Weaver. Better brace yourself, he thought.
Bowen’s business shindig went down at a ritzy private club just outside Ronson City,
Sunset Villa.
Nestled in the suburbs, Sunset Villa was hands–down the fanciest, most lavish spot in the city. Its classic style screamed old–money elegance.
But this wasn’t a place one could just stroll into with a wad of cash–one needed a membership to even get a foot in the door.
And those memberships? They came with ranks, each one tying one to certain floors for dropping their dough.
Cameron had a membership here. A few years back, Laura had come along with him
once.
But even as the Weaver family’s golden boy, Cameron’s status didn’t get him anywhere near the top floor.
If Laura had shown up solo, she’d have been stopped cold at the gate. Lucky for her, everyone knew Marco, Bowen’s go–to guy. With Março leading, Laura sailed right to the plush top–floor suite.
Marco cracked opened the door for Laura, then slipped out like a ghost, closing it
behind her.
Bowen sat alone, back to the light. The door’s creak pulled his gaze from his tablet.
Those deep, stone–cold eyes locked onto Laura, not giving away a thing.
- Chapter 6 17 Marry You
When Bowen stayed quiet, his cold, kingpin vibe could choke the air out of a room. But
Laura, facing this titan who could rattle the elite with a glance, didn’t flinch.
She spoke, cool and steady.“I’ve made my call. I’m in. I’ll marry him.”
