16.Chapter 16
Laura smiled shyly at the camera, while Bowen, though still wearing his usual stern expression, couldn’t help but lift the corner of his mouth slightly just as the
photographer pressed the shutter.
Stepping out of the marriage registry office, Laura flipped through the still–fresh marriage certificate and stared at their names on it, finally feeling a sense of reality about their marriage.
Seeing Laura carefully placing the passport into her bag, Bowen couldn’t help but smile and gently pat her head. “Looking forward to working with you, Mrs. Weaver”
“Uncle Bowen.” Laura looked up at Bowen with a serious expression. “We haven’t done. a prenuptial agreement yet..
“I know it was rushed, so we just got the certificate first, but you can make up the agreement later, and I’ll sign it.”
Laura’s words darkened Bowen’s expression. “Laura, didn’t I say I have no intention of divorcing you after marrying you? How soon you forget!
“I didn’t….but I mean, after all…”
Since there’s no chance of divorce, there’s no need for a prenup,” Bowen cut her off. Laura was about to say more when her phone suddenly buzzed with a video call. “Maddie?” She gave Bowen an apologetic smile, then stepped aside to answer the call. “Babe, mwah, miss me?” As soon as the call connected, Madelyn greeted her with a big kiss.
When she saw the background behind Madelyn, Laura was momentarily stunned. “You” re at the airport?”
“Yep!” Madelyn nodded repeatedly. “The day after tomorrow is your engagement with your crush. How could your bestie possibly miss such an important event?”
As soon as she finished, Madelyn noticed Laura’s stiff expression and a sense of unease crept in. “Babe, what’s wrong?”
“N–nothing.” Laura snapped back to reality and changed the subject. “When is your flight? Won’t your studies abroad be affected?”
“Of course not!” Madelyn’s face was full of pride. “I’ve already graduated early.

tomorrow. You’ll be the shining star of the day!” Madelyn replied.
“Deal!” Laura clenched her fist subtly, her smile remaining steady. “You’ve got to spend some quality time with me the day after tomorrow.”
After ending the video call, Laura walked back to Bowen. “Sorry about that, Uncle Bowen. It was my best friend Madelyn. She said she booked her ticket back and is coming for my engagement.”
“I see.” Bowen nodded with a faint smile. “Let’s go. I’ll drive you back.”
Laura nodded.
Now that she and Bowen had already gotten married, there was no chance of her getting engaged to Cameron anymore.
She had to trust him; Marco had also said Bowen was always well–prepared.
So the engagement party the day after tomorrow would definitely go smoothly, just as he promised.
After dropping Laura off at the Wilson family, Bowen headed straight back to the Weaver Group. As soon as the car entered the underground parking lot, Marco’s phone.
buzzed a few times.
After checking the message, Marco turned to Bowen, who was reviewing documents. in the back seat, and said in a low voice, “Boss, the guys watching Brielle and Julieta just sent word that they met up.”
Hearing this, Bowen paused slightly with his pen in hand. “And then?”
“Our guys got some major footage. I’ll forward it to you right now.” While speaking,
Marco forwarded the received video to Bowen.
After watching the video, Bowen couldn’t help but curl his lips into a sneer.
Those two foolish women actually schemed together, planning to make Laura a laughingstock at the engagement and ruin her reputation with a video.
But hey, their stupidity saved him some trouble.
‘Let’s see who’ll end up embarrassed… With this thought, a chill flashed in Bowen’s
eyes.
He was eager to see what choice Cameron would make then.
