I sat on the sofa, trying to figure out how to treat my wounds. The cuts on my arms and legs didn’t even compare to the pain in my heart.
After a while, Joshua and Amelia slowly walked downstairs.
“Joshua, I want to return to my hometown,” I said softly.
I never wanted to be his pathetic lapdog again.
The moment he realized I wanted to leave, he rushed over, grabbed my hand, and tried to comfort me. “What are you overthinking this time?
“You can’t see anymore. How could I possibly let you go on your own?
“Be good and don’t make me worry, okay?”
My heart ached. He wasn’t stopping me out of love. He was just afraid Amelia wouldn’t be able to get pregnant, and he needed me to help her trade more parts of myself.
“I’ve made up my mind. I’m going back to my hometown.”
My voice was firm and unwavering.
I turned to find my way back to my room to get my things, but my foot got caught on something, and I stumbled forward.
“Ah!”
I cried out, reaching out without thinking, trying to grab Joshua, who was closest to me.
But the moment I touched him, he harshly pushed my hand away.

“Amelia, are you okay?”

His panicked voice called out as he quickly rushed over, not to help me, but to check on Amelia.
I fell hard onto the floor, slamming my head against the corner of the coffee table. I could feel warm blood sliding into my eyes, stinging my eyes, and causing pain.
“Joshua, look! She ran into me on purpose again!”
I heard Amelia’s voice twisting the truth.
I clenched my fists, full of frustration..
I explained, “I didn’t! She tripped me first…”
“Enough!” Joshua’s furious voice rang out from above.
“Priscilla, do you really have to act like this every single day?
“You’ve already lost your sight. Why are you still causing trouble?”
I clutched my chest tightly, the pain so sharp that it felt like my heart might explode.
“Did you hurt your ankle?”
His tone suddenly softened, and I could picture the concerned look he gave Amelia.
“This is my fault. I should’ve stopped her earlier. I’m sorry. Priscilla’s just being childish. Don’t take it personally.”
He ignored me completely, then picked Amelia up and placed her on the sofa, speaking to her softly to comfort her.

I was still lying on the floor. Blood from my forehead had run down to my chin and was now soaking into my shirt. I could feel how wet it had
become.
I probably looked terrifying right then.
Sure enough, Amelia let out a scream, “Joshua, tell her to go away! She looks like a ghost. It’s horrifying!”
“Don’t worry, I’m here with you. Everything’s fine…” Joshua whispered gently to comfort Ker.
Then his voice turned cold when he spoke to me, “Go clean up your wound. Stop wandering around. You’re blind, so just stay in your room and don’t freak people out.”
Amelia giggled and clung to him, saying, “Joshua, you’re always so sweet to me.”
Joshua chuckled and kissed the side of her mouth, “Of course I am.”
Not long after, the sound of their flirtation and whispers started coming from the sofa.
I clenched my fists, feeling nothing but a dull ache in my chest.
“Oh no, she’s still here! You’re making me shy,” Amelia said in a teasing tone, pretending to resist.
Joshua replied, “Relax, she’s blind. She can’t see us anyway.”
All of a sudden, a glass hit the floor near me, and Joshua’s cold tone followed, “Why are you still here? Go to your room.”
The glass shattered near my feet, and some pieces cut into my leg–but the sting was nothing compared to the hurt in my heart.

I slowly got up, hearing clothes rustling and Amelia’s exaggerated moans behind me.
“Joshua, are we being too harsh on your girlfriend?”
Then, Joshua sneered, “Girlfriend? Look at her, like the walking dead. I’m so done with her.
“Letting her hold that title was the biggest favor I ever did for her.
“Don’t worry, she owes me her life. She’ll do whatever I tell her to.”
