Chapter 2
“Joshua, is this your idea of a healthy meal? You know I can’t eat spicy food.”
Since I lost my sight, my hearing had become more sensitive than it used to be.
I clearly heard him let out a sarcastic laugh and reply nonchalantly, “Amelia is our guest. She likes spicy food, so we adjust to suit her. You
should learn to be more considerate.
“Besides, you’ve lost your sense of taste. What difference does it make to you? Why are you acting so dramatic today?
“These are healthy dishes–stop making a fuss over nothing.”
My chest tightened again.
I lost my sense of taste because of him I pushed myself too hard for him all these years. Now my body is falling apart. Even a bit of spicy food could seriously harm me, and he knows that
I set my plate aside and laughed bitterly inside. I thought, “Priscilla, this is the man you’ve chased after for 16 years. How pathetic.”
As memories came back to me, tears began to fall on their own.
Suddenly, his hand gently held mine, and his voice turned soft, “Honey, I was wrong. I wasn’t thinking straight.
“I’ll ask Mila to cook something light and healthy for you. Please don’t
cry…”

Chapter 2
“Joshua…” Amelia interrupted with her aggrieved tone.
In an instant, Joshua pulled his hand away from mine.
Then I heard them whispering closely to each other.
“Sweetheart, don’t get the wrong idea. I’m only trying to help her recover quickly. So, if you didn’t get pregnant, I’d make her trade herself again.
A tear dropped onto my hand, and my heart felt like it had shattered completely.
After dinner, Joshua told me that he’d arranged for me to stay downstairs from now on. He said it would be easier for me since I wouldn’t need to use the stairs anymore.
I didn’t argue. I was already planning to leave soon.
Before long, Mila packed up my belongings and moved them into the small maid’s room on the first floor.
I sat in the new room, staring into space, trying to imagine what life would look like after leaving Joshua.
Then I overheard Mila chatting quietly with the housekeeper, Niko Rifkin.
“Mila, don’t forget to clear out everything that belongs to Ms. Marino. If Ms. Devlin moves in and sees her things, Mr. Harvick will definitely get mad.”
“Relax, I know what I’m doing. Ms. Marino doesn’t have much stuff. It won’t take long to finish.
“Sigh… Niko, don’t you think it’s a bit much? Mr. Harvick was in such a rush to move Ms. Devlin into the main room he used to share with Ms.
Marino.

“If Ms. Marino finds out, she’ll be heartbroken!”
Mila was always one to gossip too much.

But then Niko’s tone became cold, “Keep your voice down. Don’t let Ms. Marino hear anything she shouldn’t.”
My nose stung, and the tears I’d been trying to hold back finally came pouring out.
After fumbling through the neatly packed items, I realized Mila had left behind something very important.
I wiped my tears and slowly made my way up the stairs, feeling along the wall.
Just as I got to the main room, I heard intimate sounds coming from
inside.
“Joshua, I want more!”
My body froze on the spot, and a chill ran through me.
A moment later, the room filled with sounds I didn’t want to hear.
“Keep going, Joshua. Your clueless girlfriend really is the perfect shield. With her around, I’m recovering faster. If we keep this up, I might even have your baby.”
Then I heard Joshua laugh and say, “You naughty girl, you’re going to
wear me out!”
I couldn’t listen anymore. I turned to leave but accidentally made a noise.
“Who’s there?” he asked.
I replied coldly, “It’s me.”

Chapter 2
There’s no point in hiding. I had to face the truth.
But just then, my sharp hearing picked up more words I never wanted to
hear.
“Joshua, keep her here. I want to do it with you in front of her,” Amelia murmured into his ear in a low, flirty voice.
My hands tightened into fists. Absolutely disgusting.
“Priscilla, I’m not feeling well. Why don’t you stay here with me?”
Joshua’s words were full of desire, and they stabbed into my heart like sharp blades, making it hard to even breathe.
Even though they tried to hide it, my hearing was too sensitive.
I could clearly catch Joshua’s heavy breaths and Amelia’s soft giggles, mixing together like something toxic in my ears. I tried to block out the sound, but it wouldn’t go away.
Before my tears could fall, I turned around and dashed downstairs like I’d lost my mind.
Just as expected, I slipped and fell down the steps.
Then came Amelia’s loud, mocking voice from the room, “Did the blind girl fall down the stairs or something? Hahaha!”
Joshua’s rough voice replied quietly, “Darling, stay focused…”
