Chapter 9
Evelyn’s heart pounded frantically as she tried to compose herself, looking down at the churning dark waters below.
No sign of anyone there, as if nothing had happened.
After a long moment, she slowly turned away.
“Good riddance, Aurora Quinn. You got exactly what you deserved!“]
Undercover of darkness, her smirking expression revealed a careless cruelty.
On the second deck, Grayson was carrying a six inch sponge cake. Seeing Evelyn return, he lit the candles: “Try this No milk, raspberries flown in from Poland this morning, reduced sugar for your diet plan. You should like it.“]
Evelyn smiled as she blew out the candles, her eyes expectant: “Feed me!“[]
Well, well, you invited us here just to flaunt your relationship?” one guest teased.[]
“Seriously, Grayson, when are you divorcing that little caretaker? Time to properly marry our heiress!”
“You might as well get married right here! Didn’t you already give her a ring at that charity event the other day?“]
As the circle of guests grow increasingly unrestrained with their comments, Grayson’s expression suddenly darkened. He anxiously looked up, searching for Aurora among the crowd.
But she was nowhere to be soon…
At that moment, a surge of unease washed over him.
“Why are you
spacing out, Grayson? I said feed me.” Evelyn tugged at his arm, clearly dissatisfied.[]
Grayson snapped back to reality, obediently scooping a small bite of cake for her before abruptly withdrawing his hand. He frowned at the rowdy crowd: “Enough. I know you’re joking, but don’t take it too far. I’m already married with a family and a wife. Evelyn is still single.“[
“This kind of talk isn’t good for her reputation…”
An awkward silence fell, Evelyn’s smile froze on her lips, her empty hand clenching Nightly.
Shortly after, the yacht returned to shore, and the partygoers dispersed.]
Grayson didn’t immediately disembark.|||
“The number you have dialed is currently switched off
As the automated message played yet again, his brow furrowed deeply, and he strode quickly toward Evelyn, who was saying goodbye to her friends.]
“Evelyn, have you seen Rory? I haven’t seen her since I went to make the cake, but the yacht never docked, so I’m worried…“]]
Before he could finish, Evelyn cut him off with forced casualness: “Bury? She…“]
Her expression suddenly turned wounded: “After being punished in that game, she was bitter with resentment. As soon as you left, she called me over, look the tore my lace collar in her rage”
With that, she deliberately displayed the torn lace at her neckline: “I barely managed to break free. After that, she left on her own. The yacht has inflatable speedboots–I heard someone used one tonight. She probably left early.”
Grayson glanced at the faint red marks on her neck where the collar had pulled tight. The concern in his eyes disappeared, replaced with frustration: “She’s still like this–learning nothing, still trying to hurt you…”
“If she wants to turn off her phone and throw a tantrum, fine!!

Evelyn seized the opportunity to take his hand: “Don’t be angry. Come have a drink with me.“||
That night, after leaving the marina, they went to a bar.
Grayson was already agitated, and after several cocktails that weren’t particularly strong, his body strangely developed a burning sensation, and his head spun severely
Evelyn steadied him: “Grayson, you’re drunk. I’ll take you to the hotel upstairs to rest.”
He leaned heavily against her
But as soon as the hotel room door opened, a cool touch slid across his throat. His body tensed as he looked down at Evelyn’s wandering fingers
She stood on tiptoe, her breath creating a tingling sensation
“Grayson, I want you as my birthday present.”
Her voice was alluringly soft. Grayson felt his entire body burning with heat, and he instinctively pulled her closer.
