Chapter 12
As seconds ticked by, Grayson nearly crumpled the divorce certificate in his hand. Just then, his assistant called
“Mr. Hart, we’ve confirmed that the divorce certificate is authentic
“Impossible” Grayson’s voice shook with disbelief. “Doesn’t divorce require my signature? The signature on the agreement must be forged–it has no legal validity! I never.”
He suddenly stopped, a memory flashing through his mind.
The morning of the trial, Aurora had knelt before him for the countless time: “Grayson, if you insist on walking out that door to defend Evelyn today! then sign this agreement. Let’s get divorced!”
But he had been in a rush to leave and hadn’t given it proper thought. After all, in the six months since everything happened, she had mentioned “divorce” more than once.]
He hadn’t taken it seriously, hadn’t even looked at the agreement, merely scrawling his signature and tossing it back to her. “There! Is that enough, Aurora Quinn? Don’t push me!”
Grayson closed his eyes in agony, a throbbing pain shooting through his skull…]
So her talk of divorce had been real
And now, after leaving him this divorce certificate, she had completely disappeared.]]
This realization made Grayson’s heart feel as if it were being wrenched from his chest. He fought through the suffocating pain and instructed his assistant on the phone: “Find her immediately. Check all possible transportation, any trace she might have left under her real name. When she left. where she went…I need to know everything!”
That night, Grayson didn’t sleep at all.]
Cigarette butts piled up in the bedroom, stubble sprouted across his jaw, making him look utterly haggard.]
Larly the next morning, the sound of the mansion door closing echoed from downstairs. []
He jumped up, rushing toward the stairs: “Rory! Rory, is that you?”
but his only answer was the click clack of high heels and Evelyn’s sweet voice: “It’s me, Grayson. I stayed up making porridge for you to try.”
“Not interested. Take it away!” His tone was harsh as he turned his back to her. “By the way, take everything you left in the bedroom. Don’t leave a single item behind. And don’t ever come back!”
Evelyn immediately choked up: “Why? I heard Aurora divorced you willingly. She’s gone, disappeared. Why must you
“Shut up!” He massaged his temples, cutting her off sharply: “Get out! Stop bothering me“]
Over the next week, he pulled countless strings and spared no expense searching for Aurora, but came up empty–handed ||
His Rory had seemingly evaporated that night, vanishing without a trace. Or perhaps she had never left Manhattan at all]
Ten days after Aurora’s disappearance, Manhattan experienced its most severe rainstorm in years.
Ap:00 AM, a farewell letter scheduled for automatic posting appeared on an unline forum. With more devastating force than the raging storm, it rapidly swept across the internet, unleashing a massive wave of public outery

He hadn’t ventured outside for days but had finally contacted a renowned detective, forcing himself to clean up
His assistant messaged cryptically: [Mr. Hart, please remain calm |
Grayson tapped open the post with one hand. In that instant, his pupils contracted sharply, and the razor shared deeply across his chin, leaving a long, deep cut.
Blood dripped onto the phone screen, where the letter read:[]

By the time this letter is published, I will likely be gone. My only regret is that I couldn’t obtain justice for my mother while I was
