Wesley frowned and asked, “Are you from my wife’s family? Rest assured, she won’t suffer because of me. But how can you, brother–in–law, treat my wife like this?”
After speaking, Wesley carried me up to the company’s building, while the security team watched Jasper cautiously.
Jasper clenched his teeth but didrit dare to step forward.
In the office, Wesley gently massaged my wrist.

In the office, Wesley gently massaged my wrist.
I looked at him and remained silent for a moment.
“I did have some history with Jasper, but he left me with terrible memories. He’s a shadow in my mind.”
Hearing this, Wesley hugged me tightly and gave me a gentle kiss.
“Don’t be afraid, I’m here now! I’ll protect you from now on.”
We locked eyes tenderly, but a knock on the door interrupted us.
The secretary’s voice came through, “Ms. Cora, someone from your sister Nora’s side is here.”
Upon hearing it was Nora, my face darkened, and I headed to the reception room.
Nora, still looking disheveled from her earlier shouting, stood in front of me. “Cora, don’t you want to know what I said to Jasper?”
“Tonight, at eleven, on that street, I’ll tell you what I said. You must come alone!”
I agreed with a nod, eager to know what she said to Jasper that drove him mad and almost cost me my life.
At eleven, after finally getting Wesley to sleep, I left home carefully and went to that street from back then.
The street was shrouded in darkness. I waited with my flashlight for an hour but didn’t
see Nora.
Just as I was about to leave, I heard footsteps behind me.
Turning around, I was struck on the head before I could see who it was. Everything went black, and I fainted.
When I opened my eyes again, I was tightly bound. Nora splashed a bucket of water over my head, revealing a sinister smile.
“Oh, you’re awake? My dear sister, does this place look familiar?”
Looking around, I recognized this as the place where Nora was assaulted by a vagrant and where Jasper beat me.
“Nora, calm down!” I tried to remain composed.
“Calm? Hahaha, I’m very calm now.” Nora laughed maniacally and slapped me hard.
“You witch, why do you get to marry Wesley while I was tortured?”
“Sister, you must miss your old pal, right? Look who it is?”
A long–haired, scruffy vagrant approached me, his eyes lighting up at the sight of me.
Seeing the face that haunted my nightmares, I trembled with fear and struggled desperately.
He stepped closer, and I cried out for help, “Please, I’m sorry. Nora, let me go. I’ll give you anything you want! Just let me go!”
Hearing this, Nora slapped me again.
‘Let you go? What a dream! I want you to be like me, unable to live or die!”

“Aren’t you curious about what I told Jasper back then? I’ll tell you now.” She smiled eerily.
“I told Jasper that the day Aunt Genevieve drowned in the lake, it wasn’t an accident. You pushed her into the lake; you killed
her!”
“You’re lying! That’s nonsense!” I shouted at Nora.
“Hahahahaha!” Nora laughed even more crazily, “I did lie to him, so what?”
“Since you’re going to die here today, I might as well tell you. I pushed Aunt Genevieve into the lake that day. So what?”
My eyes widened, shaking my head, “You! Why did you do it? Why did you kill Aunt Genevieve?”
“Why? Because she knew too much! I pushed her into the lake to drown her. Who knew you’d suddenly come by and call for help?”
“Luckily, she only had one breath left to give you the jade pendant before dying. She didn’t have the time to accuse me. I was scared, you know, if she had lived a bit longer, I would’ve had to finish her off.”
I paused, “I know your secret–you had an affair with Uncle Jasper! You seduced a married man!”
Nora frowned, “How did you know? Did Aunt Genevieve tell you?”
I snickered, “Your secret isn’t just known by me, but Aunt Genevieve and even Mom and Dad. Why do you think they sent you abroad? To make you stop, to prevent further mistakes!”
“But you didn’t stop. You didn’t understand Mom and Dad’s intentions at all.”
Nora was stunned, not expecting that our seemingly biased parents actually cared about her. The truth was out.
“You were also born from Mom’s womb. How could she not love you? Mom and Dad never expected you to go through such things! When you were in trouble, they aged by decades overnight, their tears dried up. Mom even developed severe depression. If Dad hadn’t found out in time, she might’ve followed you back then!”
Nora shook her head, “No, that’s not true! You’re lying!” She screamed madly, looking at the vagrant.”
“From now on, she’s yours. Do whatever you want with her!”
