Jasper shook his head, unable to comprehend. The woman he once loved, who had promised to love only him, had gotten
married.
“No, this can’t be true!” Jasper muttered to himself.
He recalled the other day, forcing me to kneel and apologize, with onlookers hurling insults at me. In our past life, I had been repeatedly violated by a homeless man, with a lecherous crowd watching and laughing.
He remembered my desperate pleas for mercy, and his bloodshot eyes filled with vengeance.
“We… we used to be in love! How did it end up like this?” Jasper’s face was pale as he closed his eyes.
Nora approached, seeing Jasper’s pale face, and supported him by the waist.
“Jasper, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Jasper looked at Nora, growing more repulsed by her familiar face.
He gently patted Nora’s face, forcing a smile.
He remembered me pleading with shame, his eyes bloodshot with a burning desire for revenge.
“We… we used to love each other! How did it end up like this?” Jasper’s face was pale as he closed his eyes.
Nora approached, noticing Jasper’s pallor, and put a hand on his back. “Jasper, are you okay? Are you feeling sick?”
Jasper glanced at Nora, feeling a growing repulsion toward her familiar face. He lightly tapped her cheek and smiled before suddenly slapping her hard.
“Did you kill Whiskers? Who gave you the right to kill Whiskers?”
Jasper shouted at Nora, who covered her face and sank to the floor, quietly sobbing. The commotion caught the attention of Dad and Uncle Jasper.
“Jasper! What are you doing?” Uncle Jasper quickly walked over and restrained Jasper.
Dad came over and helped Nora to her feet, his expression dark as he glared at Jasper. Jasper was breathing heavily, “Nora! I’m asking you!”
“It was you who said to kill Whiskers. Cora said she didn’t care about anything here anymore, so I did it.”
Jasper’s vision blurred, and he held his head.
“I said to kill Whiskers, and she didn’t care anymore,..”
He stumbled into the room, slamming the door behind him. Jasper entered the room and started stuffing clothes from the wardrobe into a suitcase.
“Jasper, what are you doing?” Nora chased after him and grabbed his arm.
Jasper shook off Nora’s hand and continued packing furiously.
“I’m going abroad. Cora can’t possibly be marrying someone else; it must be a lie.”

Nora’s heart leaped with joy at these words. She couldn’t help but fantasize that I might have been ruined by a vagrant on the very first day, marrying that drifter. Other than this, she couldn’t imagine who else I would have eloped with.
She suppressed her glee. “Jasper, let me go too. After all, my sister’s marriage is a big deal. As her younger sister, I should naturally be there to bless her.“”
Jasper was taken aback. For some reason, he found Nora particularly irksome today and didn’t want her tagging along.
Seeing Jasper’s hesitation, Nora clung to his arm, whining, “Brother Jasper, I want to go with you. Don’t leave me alone; I’m
afraid of the dark.”
Jasper’s expression softened, and he patted Nora’s shoulder.
“Then let’s go together. With me here, what are you afraid of?”
Nora nestled in Jasper’s arms, a malicious smile playing on her lips. They never managed to find me. The day after the
wedding, Dad assigned Jasper and Nora to manage a subsidiary company in another city, far away in the north.
Nora tried to persuade Dad to let them stay, but he and Mom were adamant. Dad said that since we were married, we should
have our own home and not linger at theirs.
After Dad and Mom wrapped up their work, they went on a world tour, explicitly telling us not to disturb them. By the time Jasper had settled the company’s affairs up north, three months had passed.
When Jasper was packing once more to come find me, Nora suddenly found out she was pregnant. To care for Nora and their child, Jasper reluctantly canceled his trip.
Meanwhile, I was having a wonderful time abroad. Wesley, as a young master of the Wesley family, had plenty of money. To ensure no vagrants bothered me, he stayed by my side every day and even hired a bodyguard for me.
The vagrant from my past life never appeared before me again. But even though i didn’t see that vagrant, even with Wesley’s company, I still felt uneasy when passing that street, recalling the experiences of my past life.
Wesley would always comfort me gently, “I took care of that vagrant. You won’t see him again. Don’t be afraid; I’m here with
you.”
After a period of anxiety, I indeed never saw that vagrant again. The sense of security Wesley gave me helped me gradually
settle down.
