“I’m here to see Lily, don’t think that’s any of your business anymore.”
Henry stepped in front of me protectively.
Seeing Henry defend me, Gabriel’s pupils constricted as he looked at me aggressively.
“Lily, is this why you wanted to break up with me?”
Hearing his words, I felt a headache coming on. Dude, weren’t you the one who misunderstood me and threatened me with a breakup?
But I said nothing. At this point, I wanted nothing to do with him anymore. Let him think what he wants.

My silence seemed to hit Gabriel hard.
“Lily, can’t you just explain things to clear it up? I was only saying that in the heat of the moment.”
“You spent a whole year planning our wedding. Your dad was so looking forward to it too. Are you really going to give up on all that?”
“Weren’t you the one who said to call it off first?”
“You managed to say it even as a ‘heat of the moment‘ thing. You knew everything, you understood it all. I’m done playing along. Is that not okay?”
“Lily, I…”
His face was full of guilt and a hint of panic, like he had lost something precious.
I didn’t want to hear his explanations anymore. I walked straight past him into my office.
Henry followed my lead, leaving Gabriel alone outside.
Gabriel watched our every move, his expression as dark as if he’d been cheated on.
Inside the office, I had just sat down when
spoke up.
“Are you okay after what just happened?”
“You know, I could take his place for the wedding…”
Seeing his concerned gaze, I felt touched, but that was the extent of it.
“Thank you for stepping in earlier, but I’m sorry… I’m not ready for anything right now…”
“I can wait!”
He urgently grasped my hand, cutting me off.
Faced with his enthusiasm, I felt awkward and could only respond with a smile.
“To show my appreciation, how about I treat you to a meal? What would you like to eat?”
“Anything you choose is fine by me.”
“Alright, I’ll make a reservation and text you the details. I’ve got a lot of work right now, so I can’t really entertain you. I’m sorry about that.
“No worries, I understand, Looking forward to your message!”
He said goodbye warmly and left the office.
But instead of leaving right away, he walked up to Gabriel.
“Mr. Gu, oh wait without Lily, you’re just Gabriel now.”
“Gabriel, I really must thank you for letting Lily go. It’s exactly what I’ve been hoping for.”
Henry had always disliked Gabriel, Back when I first fell for Gabriel, Henry had tried to put him in his place several times, but I always
intervened.
Now that Henry had the chance to show off again, I’m sure Gabriel wouldn’t have an easy time of it.
Though Gabriel had improved since then, it was largely thanks to my backing and resources.
Henry then strode out of my studio like he’d won a great victory.
As soon as Henry left, Gabriel yanked open my office door, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at me.

“You’ve been wanting to leave me all along, haven’t you? You’ve been fooling around with him behind my back, right?”
