I felt panic again. I asked, “Where’s the baby?”

Three midwives came in holding baby falcons.
Light streamed from outside. Jasper stood up, surrounded by eagle clan leaders.
They bowed to me. “Thank you, Queen, for breaking the curse!”
“The beast king cast the curse. Only the beast god can break it. You broke the curse, so you
are our queen!”
I leaned on the bed, watching everyone who
had looked down on me. They were now bowing
to me.

I looked at the baby falcons and felt a pang,

He changed his face.
“Then there’s nothing else to say. You’re
coming with me, whether you like it or not!”
He drew his sword and charged at me.

Corbin stared at the knife in his chest, his gaze
slowly moving to my face.
“How…how…”
I expressionlessly pulled out the knife, blood
splattering on my face.
“Did you think I was the same Cloud as
before?”
He fell, full of bitterness and pain.
“It wasn’t supposed to be like this…”
“I’m the beast king. How could this happen…”
He stared at me, slowly losing warmth.
I looked at his body, feeling mixed emotions.
The past was over.

Corbin’s death at the eagle clan palace didn’t cause a stir.
Everyone knew about our feud. He had broken
into the palace, so it made sense that the queen killed him.
Besides, the naga clan had others who wanted
his place. They declared loyalty and inherited the throne.
The protection I gave Bethany worked.
Corbin didn’t go after her, but Brock tried to sneak in. He tripped a trap and got seriously injured.
Brock was furious and led the bear clan to
attack, but Jasper and I beat them badly. The
mountain collapsed during their retreat, and the
army was buried.
