wanted a new bride.
But everyone heard how brutal he was. No one
wanted to marry him.
Brock walked straight to Bethany.
Bethany was living happily with Alistair. When Brock stared at her, she hid behind Alistair.
Bethany and Alistair weren’t married in the
traditional sense, so they couldn’t compete.
I stood in front of her.

He was about to get angry, but he saw how
healthy and beautiful I had become. He
changed his mind. “If Bethany won’t come with
me, you can.”
I slapped him.
Everyone gasped. Brock’s face darkened. He
sent me flying. I crashed to the ground.
I could have dodged that.
But I didn’t.
Jasper walked in and saw me on the ground,
groaning in pain.
He rushed to me, pushing Brock aside and
lifting me up.

Jasper stared at me in disbelief, with
uncontainable excitement.
“Cloud, when did this happen?”
“What, the child probably is an accident,”
Corbin sneered. “Can’t you see what’s so
obvious?”
“Shut up!”
Jasper’s face darkened. He scooped me up and
carried me home.
I looked at him, confused.
“Aren’t you curious why I’m suddenly
pregnant?”
Didn’t you suspect I was cheating?
Jasper took my hand, his eyes full of trust.
“I believe you.”
“Bunnies are fertile. You must be gifted to have
our child.”
My eyes welled up.
No one had ever been genuinely kind to me
