Chapter 10
After Shawn slammed the door and left, Hannah sat in front of the brazier all night.
When the first light of day broke, she slowly got up and dragged her exhausted body to the bathroom.
The woman in the mirror was so thin that she was unrecognizable, and the burn on her wrist looked terrifying, like an ugly centipede crawling on her skin.
Her pale complexion seemed to be reminding her of the fleeting life.
In the following days, Shawn did not come back again.
The news was filled with reports about him and Ariana.
The president of the Adelson Group splurged on a luxurious mansion for his sweetheart, while Shawn brought his new love to attend a charity gala.
Hannah turned off the TV and picked up her phone to call Shawn.
“Beep… Beep…”
It took a long time for the call to be answered.
“What’s wrong? Shawn’s voice was cold and distant, with Ariana’s giggling laughter still audible in the background.”
Hannah tightened her grip on her phone. “Come back for a visit.”
“I was busy.”
“Half a month has passed,” she said softly, “I have prepared what I promised to give you.
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, followed by Shawn’s cold laughter: “Hannah, how long do you think you can keep using this excuse to deceive me? Do you really think I will still believe you?”
“What I said was true…”
“Enough!” Shawn interrupted sharply, “Ariana and I are on vacation, we don’t have time to play these games with you!”
The phone was rudely hung up, Hannah held the phone and listened to the busy tone coming from inside, suddenly she laughed.
As she laughed, tears started to flow down her face.
Shawn, it seems like we missed the last bus.
We couldn’t see each other again.

Chapter 10
As the dusk fell outside the window, Hannah changed into a bright red dress, took one last look around the “home” she had lived in for five years, and gently closed the door.
The taxi stopped on the bridge over the river, Hannah paid the fare, and slowly walked to the center of the bridge.
The night wind was chilly, blowing her skirt and long hair.
The river surface was shimmering, reflecting the lights on both banks, as beautiful as a dream.
This is the place where James and Brielle had an accident back then.
Hannah leaned on the railing, and for a moment, she seemed to see the scene from that day.
James gripped the steering wheel tightly, while Brielle anxiously dialed her phone on the side, her voice urgent: “Hannah, please pick up the phone…”
The rain was pouring heavily, and the truck on the opposite side was out of control, rushing towards us.
“I’m sorry…” she whispered, “If it wasn’t for me running away stubbornly, you wouldn’t have gotten into trouble…”
Hannah bent over in sudden severe pain in her stomach, and vomited a mouthful of blood.
The bright red liquid splashed onto the red skirt, like blooming red plum blossoms.
She knew she couldn’t hold on much longer.
“James… Brielle…” She let go of the railing, her red dress billowing in the wind, “I have come to find you.”
The setting sun in the distance was like blood, and the river surface shimmered with golden light.
Hannah closed her eyes and took a step forward.
“Plop!”
The moment the body fell down, the cold river water surged up.
That’s great.
Shawn, I let you go.
Please… let me go.
From then on, we were separated by yin and yang, and owed each other nothing.
