Chapter 9
I looked directly into Ethan’s eyes. “Just to remind you, we’ve broken up and you’re no longer my partner at all.”
Both Ethan and Scarlett were visibly taken aback by my complete indifference. Their confident expressions wavered.
Scarlett’s eyes narrowed as she scrutinized my face. I could see her searching desperately for any sign of jealousy or resentment.
Any crack in my composure that would prove I was still the heartbroken, desperate woman they thought they knew.
But my serene expression betrayed nothing.
Ethan’s face flushed deep red with rage. His hands clenched into fists at his sides.
“Are you doing this on purpose?” he snarled, his voice rising with each word. “Did you know we were coming to the Maldives and wait here to ambush me?”
He stepped closer, his Alpha presence trying to intimidate me.
“Let me be clear,” he continued, his voice growing sharper and more threatening. “If you do this again, I will never let you be the Luna of the pack.”
His words grew even more vicious, designed to cut deep into what he thought were my deepest insecurities.
“Luna needs to be generous and treat pack members well. How could someone like you ever be the Luna? Just look at yourself–you’re embarrassing!”
‘Embarrassing?” I asked, my voice soft and mocking. “Is it more embarrassing than the she–wolf next to you who is the mistress of her brother? And you, a cheating scumbag–so who’s the one truly embarrassing themselves?”
The words hit their target perfectly. Ethan’s fury exploded like a dam bursting.
His face turned purple with rage. His entire body shook with barely contained violence.
Are you taking it off or not?!” he roared, pointing at my ring with a trembling finger.
looked at him calmly, my voice steady as granite. “No.”
His voice trembled with such rage that spittle flew from his lips. “Guards! Throw this she–wolf nto the sea, let her wake up and know who is her Alpha!”
Four guards who had been standing nearby stepped forward at his command.
felt a chill run through my heart as the reality of his cruelty hit me.
Who dares to touch me!” I said sternly.
Ethan knew I couldn’t swim. He had always known about my fear of deep water, stemming from
à childhood accident that had nearly drowned me.
(et here he was, ordering his guards to throw me into the ocean. Not just to scare me–to >otentially kill me.
All for Scarlett. All because I wouldn’t give her my engagement ring.
Ethan’s smile turned cruel and calculating.

“Are you scared now?” he asked. “As long as you hand over the ring now, I can pretend that nothing happened.”
“After I go back to the pack, you will still be my Luna. I’ll even forgive all your behavior today.”
The arrogance in his voice was staggering. He actually believed I should be grateful for his ‘generosity‘
“Don’t dream,” I told him, my voice flat and final.
His face twisted with renewed fury. He had expected me to crumble, to beg for his forgiveness.
Ethan signaled the guards to move forward.
“Take her,” he snarled. “Maybe some time in the water will remind her of her place.”
Scarlett watched with obvious excitement, her eyes bright with malicious glee. She was finally going to see me destroyed completely.
The lead guard reached out to grab my arm. His fingers were inches from my skin.
Just when I thought I might actually have to fight my way out of this situation, a familiar voice cut through the chaos like a sword.
“Who dares to touch her?”
Royal Beta James appeared as if from nowhere, his presence commanding immediate attention. His eyes blazed with fury as he took in the scene.
