Booka Chapter64
“Cash, enough! You won’t be touching Rya, or else you will be touching me. Do you understand?” Dallas leans over his brother,
exposing his sharp teeth to prove how serious he is.
Dallas pulls the covers up over them more, so only their heads stick out. He pats Cash on the head like a good little dog.
“Rya, they need to stay here for just a little while…until she wakes up and can move. I’m going to my house and grab clothes for the both of them. I’ll be back very soon, okay?I need to stop off at the clinic anyway. Cash, behave.” Dallas leaves, giving me a quick kiss on the
forehead
“I’ll
‘ll see you in less than an hour, okay?t know this is difficult for you, but sooner or later the both of you will have to try and get along.”

“I know, but you’re the better wolf, Rya. Remember that.” He leaves with a brief kiss on my mouth.
The soup is coming to a boil. I turn it down to a simmer. This should be good for them, especially her if she hasn’t eaten in a while.
I hate that they are here, but I just can’t turn away someone who is hurt, especially a temale.
As her hair dries by the heat of the fire, I notice those beautiful sun–kissed highlights are fading with the oncoming winter. Ifill up the
fireplace with more wood. She stirs in his arms, opening her eyes. She’s looking into his chest, then around the room.
Her eyes fall on mine as Istand above her. They look tired, uninterested as she unfocuses them. Her mouth is a straight line, her smile a memory. The damage that love brings hides in the shadow of her neck. Up close, I still can’t see his mark that he has placed on her.
o of it for
This is his second–hand treasure that he holds tight against him. She was already treasured by someone else; be just let go someone else to claim as theirs. I wonder if when Clayton gets better, he will try to reclaim his golden ticket.
She falls back asleep against his chest.
I can’t smell that he has taken her yet. She doesn’t smell like that yet.
“What are you looking at?” He watches as my eyes travel the length of them.
“Why are you doing all this to her? Why not just let her be with him? She doesn’t want you.”
“The thing is, Rya, I’m not a quitter, like you. I just don’t give up on my mate.” Looking at him funny, I’m somewhat confused.
“I did try to fight for him. I have the scars to show for it.” How dare he say I didn’t fight for him?1 tried.
“One time, you fried one time only. You got your hand slapped and decided just to quit and give up, hide away and cry yourself to sleep at night, feeling sorry for yourself. Did you try your best, Rya? Did you put all your èttort into your tight?” He huffs out his breath, already thinking he knows the answer
“You left him, walked away from him, and didn’t fight for him. That’s how I see things. See, that’s the difference between you and me, Rya. I won’t quit. I will wake up every day and fight for what I want. It’s not easy. It’s a lot of work.” He brushes the hair out of her eyes, kissing her forehead. “I will put as much effort as it takes for us to be together.” He looks down at Kennedy, who’s sleeping peacefully in his arms, exhausted from being out for so long
“Rya, you just gave up on yourself. You just gave up when things got hard. You decided that it was too difficult to fight for something you wanted. You just couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. I see that light, and I will do everything I can to reach it for her, for us. This is where she belongs, by my side.” His teeth have stopped chattering the slightblue tinge is gone.
“If you hurt my brother in any way, I will tear your throat out myself. He’s a good woll, Rya, better than anyone I know. I’m not sure that you deserve him.” He turns his head away from me.
“He needs someone who will fight for him. He’s not that same wolf. I’m hoping he will come back to us the way he was. Can you be that woll who brings him back?” I’m not really sure what he means by that, so I don’t respond.
Watching, Kennedy snuggles into him more. She whispers, “Clayton,” Into Cash’s neck. Instantly be stiffens, shaking her awake.
“If you dream of him, you don’t get to sleep!” he yells into her ear as she jumps, waking with a crying scream.
Such a twisted interpretation of love.
