Chapter7
Though Dominic and I had severed our mate bond, he constantly found excuses to visit the pups. He brought them an elaborate carved wooden den crib along with numerous toys. I realized these were the custom items I’d ordered during my previous pregnancy. After the miscarriage, they’d been meaningless, and Dominic had canceled the entire order with a
heavy heart.
On the twins’ First Moon Ceremony, Dominic showed up excitedly, bringing the pack’s ancestral silver charms meant to
protect newborn wolves. He held his sons tightly, as if terrified they’d be taken from him. Other pack members present
were cautiously optimistic, and Mary approached me hesitantly.
“Luna, is there truly no chance for you and the Alpha to renew your bond? The Silver Crescent Pack has only ever
recognized one Luna – you.”
“These pups are the rightful heirs to the pack. I fear if Victoria wins, you and the children will lose your birthrights. The
Alpha seems to deeply regret his actions.”
I smiled sadly, shaking my head.
“Wolves like Dominic are proud but naive. He played his games with Victoria, feeling secure I’d never discover his
betrayal.”
“Now that I’ve rejected him, if he also rejects Victoria, he’ll look like a fool who lost everything in the eyes of all packs. He
still believes she’s innocent and what they share is ‘true love.””
As if on cue, Dominic’s phone rang. I glanced at the screen and saw “My Darling” flashing.
It was disgusting how he still trusted her after she threatened his pups.
“That must be your intended Luna. You can leave,”
He winced, embarrassed that his pups’ mother was referring to another woman as his future Luna, but he answered
anyway.
“Dominic! Dom, my water broke and I’m bleeding heavily!” A woman’s sobs carried clearly through the phone.
Dominic jumped to action, trying to calm her. “Don’t panic, Victoria. I’m coming! Stay calm!”
After that he didn’t even glance back at us before rushing out, making even Mary bare her fangs in anger. While the room erupted in murmurs, I remained silent, watching Dominic go with contempt in my eyes. I was calm, almost eerily so. I was waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
A month passed and I received a call from an unknown number.
“Reyna, I can’t express how sorry I am for coming between you and Dom. Please understand that love can’t be forced, and Dominic loves me deeply, but he’s constantly worried about you and his pups.”
A cold smile curved my lips as I realized the call was on speaker – Dominic clearly hoping to clear up their
“misunderstanding.”

“It’s fine. I forgave you for being a mate-stealer long ago.”
“I heard from pack members that you were previously mated to a guard from the Shadow Moon Pack. Being too weak to provide for you, he couldn’t satisfy your ambitions, so you fled to our territory seeking a better life.”
“How could I blame you when you just wanted to climb the pack hierarchy?”
The silence that followed my words was broken by Dominic’s angry accusations before the call ended abruptly.
A day later, Victoria called again, her voice dripping with rage and contempt.
“You bitch! What was that last night? Do you think you can make Dominic leave me by revealing my past?”
“I’m completing the mate bond with Dominic next week we set the date right after speaking with you yesterday. I should thank you for being foolish enough to reject him. If I, your new Luna, am pleased with your behavior, I might even let you participate in the ritual.”
I remained perfectly calm, replying cheerfully:
“How kind of you to worry about me when you should be worried about yourself. I wish you a wonderful mating ceremony.” I paused before adding, “That is… if you can actually complete it.”
Just a day before Dominic and Victoria’s mating ceremony, I contacted my investigator.
“Ma’am, we’ve gathered all the evidence. The pack’s Elder Healer examined her pregnancy reports and discovered they
were forged. Victoria was never carrying a pup.”
When I’d seen her at Dominic’s house before my delivery, I’d noticed something off-a pregnant she-wolf’s first instinct is to protect her belly during confrontation, but Victoria had been careless. Even those stiletto heels she wore made no
sense for someone supposedly carrying.
After the rejection, my investigator and I worked tirelessly to uncover the truth, only to find my suspicions were
well-founded.
“Do we have solid proof?”
“Yes, ma’am. We have video footage of Miss Victoria bribing an intern healer to create fake ultrasound images. According to our investigation of her former pack, she had multiple illicit affairs and terminated three pregnancies. Her previous mate abandoned her in disgrace when he discovered she’d drugged their Alpha trying to conceive an heir. The truth is, she’s barren from the repented terminations. She can never bear pups.
I had all the evidence secretly delivered to Dominic that morning, but the pack messenger mistakenly took the envelope to the ceremony venue. Surprisingly, while opening expensive gifts to show off, Victoria herself opened the envelope in front of everyone, thinking it contained monetary gifts.
