Chapter 5
The moment Damon openly severed ties
“Clara’s young, beautiful, and her
Clara’s bridesmaids and her entourage burst into mocking whispers.
could Zoey possibly compare?”
“Exactly. So what if she was once the Luna? In the end, she still couldn’t keep her Alpha.”
Each word sliced into my heart like a knife, but it barely stirred a reaction anymore.
My gaze remained downcast, numb, as someone standing beside Damon cracked another joke: “Damon, Clara’s placing her whole future in your hands. You better not mess around again.”
Damon smiled–soft and warm, just like he used to with me.
Back then, he’d looked at me the same way, promising
ising each w
word with solemnity: “I’ll never let you down.”
Now, he had simply changed the person–but not the script. The words remained; only the love had vanished.
“Don’t worry,” he replied, “I won’t let her down.‘
Hannah stood beside me, trembling with fury. Her fists clenched tight as she growled through her teeth, “Unbelievable. The mistress rises to power, and everyone acts like it’s normal?!”
Just then, a cheer erupted from a group of guests nearby, loud enough to make the wolves‘ ears twitch.
“It’s such a joyful day! Come on, Damon and Clara- -let’s see a kiss!”
“Kiss her! Kiss her! Kiss her!”
The bridesmaids joined in gleefully, their laughter sharp as knives, each chant hammering at the remnants of my fading memories.
Clara’s cheeks turned pink. She looked up at Damon with feigned shyness and a subtle glint of provocation. The white gown she wore–my gown–had once held my scent, my markings.
Now, it had become her weapon.
Damon smiled and, as if indulging the crowd, gently touched her earlobe. It was a gesture I knew by heart–he used to do it whenever he wanted to soothe me or lull me to sleep.
He leaned in and brushed a kiss across her lips.
The cheers exploded, thundering through the hall as if the entire pack rejoiced in their union.
But for me, the world fell silent, like I’d been cast into a pit of eternal frost. The noise faded into nothingness.
Still as stone, I stared at the scene before me, like a ghost trapped in a dream, heart plummeting into the abyss.
Not only had I failed to keep his heart–now, even his body was no longer mine.
That was my Alpha.
He was the mate I’d once marked, the one destined for me.
Yet here he was, kissing another woman in front of everyone.
A faint smile curved my lips, bitter and tinged with mockery.
At least… the memories were almost gone.
It didn’t hurt as much anymore.
Just then, my phone lit up with a boarding alert.
“Flight LT737 will begin boarding in one hour. Please proceed to your gate.”
Iglanced at the message and slowly stood.
“Hannah, it’s time for me to go.”
She turned to me, eyes rimmed red, but pulled me into a fierce hug, like a mother wolf shielding her young.
“Go,” she whispered fiercely. “Leave behind everything that’s dirty, fake, and rotten. You were born to shine.” Chapter 5

I nodded with a smile and gently tapped her nose.
“I should go,” I said softly. “As for their ‘wedding gift‘… whatever it is, I won’t remember it anyway.”
Because in less than thirty minutes, every memory of loving Damon… would be gone.
Damon’s POV
Clara and I walked hand in hand through the glowing corridor. Out of the corner of my eye, I glimpsed a figure dragging a suitcase–it looked just like…
My breath caught. Was that her-
-Zoey?
No. I quickly shook my head. Impossible.
Even if she showed
up,
it would only be as my younger
sister. She was supposed to be sitting in the audience, not wheeling a suitcase past the ceremony
hall.
I had to be imagining it.
I forced the unease down and led Clara toward the center of the ceremonial stage.
A spotlight beamed down on us. The rest of the lights dimmed, leaving only the two of us bathed in white.
It felt like the whole pack had gathered to bless this union.
As we exchanged rings, Clara blushed with sweetness. I forced a smile, lips curving mechanically.
“Clara, do you vow to forever stand by your Alpha, honor your mate bond, never abandon or betray it?”
“I do.”
Applause erupted, echoing through the hall.
“Kiss her! Kiss her! Kiss her!”
Voices rose again, playful and eager.
I lowered my head, intending to press a kiss to her forehead-
When suddenly, a massive banner dropped from the ceiling like a blade, landing with a loud thud at our feet!
Huge black letters screamed like a curse in every werewolf’s eyes:
“Congratulations to homewrecker Clara and scumbag Damon–may your love be infertile and unhappy!”
Gasps rippled through the crowd.
Tension snapped through the air. The pack stirred uneasily. Elders stood up, frowning toward the rafters.
A spotlight hit the base of the banner–Hannah stood there, smirking with icy disdain.
“Congratulations, Alpha, and your ever–so–called ‘pure‘ Luna Clara.”
Clara went deathly pale. Her knees buckled, and she clung to me in panic.
I spun around, jaw clenched, voice laced with a low growl.
“What the hell are you talking about? Zoey and I severed the mate bond ages ago! Clara isn’t some homewrecker!”
My fists were clenched so tight they shook. My heartbeat raced out of rhythm.
Hannah let out a cold laugh, her gaze like claws stripping away my facade.
“Cut the act, Alpha Damon. You broke the bond, then still pined after your ex–mate’s wedding dress. Do you even know how much pain she was in?”
I sneered, “Zoey drank the memory–erasing potion. She doesn’t remember
any
of this.”
Hannah lifted her chin. Her voice, full of contempt, was razor sharp.
“You idiot. Do you even know what you gave her? That potion… takes three days to fully erase memories.”
My eyes widened.
“That’s not… possible,” I whispered.
Chapter 5
“She remembered everything you said. Everything you did. These last three days–she saw it all.”
The room fell dead silent. Everyone in the hall stared at me.
It was like standing trial.
I couldn’t breathe. Every heartbeat slammed into my chest like fangs.
Hannah’s voice struck like lightning.
“Do you know who created that potion?”
I traze
“It was her.” She pointed toward the entrance, where no one remained.
“Your ex–mate. Your former Luna–Zoey.”
“She made that potion with her own hands. So she could escape the memory of being betrayed by you.”
Ice flooded my veins. Sweat soaked my back.
Hannah delivered the final blow, her words thunderous:
“And that potion? There was no antidote.”
“Zoey has forgotten you. Completely. There will be no rebond.”
“So go ahead–spend the rest of your life with your precious little mistress. Enjoy it.”
