“Ari, is that you?”
“Yeah.” I called back throwing my keys and jacket off. I could hear his footsteps coming towards me but I couldn’t look up at him.
How did everything become so difficult. We were getting along so well. Joey finally opened up to Caleb. And Zoey would soon find out he was her daddy.
But Heath always had to ruin things!
Life had to ruin things!
Why couldn’t we just live happily?
“Because life isn’t a fairytale.” I mumbled under my breath as I crashed down on my couch.
“Hey, baby what’s wrong?” Caleb murmured as he pulled my head up so he could sit, then pulled my head onto his lap.
“I’m so sorry..”
“Why? Ari what happened?” His voice shook as he tensed under me…
“It had nothing to do with Jacob.” I hissed opening my eyes to meet with his hard blue orbs. Already imagining what would begin to run through his crazy mind.
Immediately his gaze softened and he began to run his fingers through my hair.
Scoffing I sat up and curled my knees into my chmyt.
“What the hell did you think I did with Jake?”
“Nothing.” He rolled his eyes pulling my arm towards him.
“No, I saw that look you gave me Caleb. Be honest with me.” I glared snatching my arm away from him.
My wolf whinned needing the warmth and reassurance that everything was going to be okay.
But I held back from crawling into his warm embrace.
“Ari, it was nothing. Please just calm down.” He sighed rubbing his forehead.
My eyes traveled over his tired eyes, and messy hair. He looked exhausted.
“Are you okay?” I whispered biting down on my lip. Guilt gnawed at me.

He looked like hell and here I was adding more crap. And on top of that I was going to have to add Heath to the pile that was forming.
“I’m fine, it’s you I’m worried about.” He said pulling me into his chest. Immediately my arms wrapped around his neck and my ear pressed against his chest.
Hearing the familiar song of his heart, my own heart finally began to calm.
“Ariana please tell me what’s going on.” He begged as he kissed the top of my head.
“You already have something to worry about.” I replied pulling away from his chest to look into his tired blue eyes:
“You’re more important than anything. You and our kids.” He smiled kissing the tip of my nose.
A blush rose up to my cheeks as a smile made its way onto my face.
Then it dawned on me. My smile vanished and my heart began to beat out of control.
“Ariana. Baby you’re scaring me what’s wrong?”
Tracing the wrinkles in his forehead from the frowning, I shook my head at him.
Heath didn’t know about Caleb. He only knew I ran away from home because I was pregnant.
Maybe I could keep Caleb out of this…
If anything happened to me, the kids would still have Caleb.
My heart dropped as my angels faces flashed through my mind.

“Ariana…“Before he could utter another word I crashed my lips against his soft pair.
I knew he could taste the fear and urgency in our kiss but he held me tight against him.
Swinging my legs to straddle him I pulled him as close as I could also.
My skin burned as he slid his fingers under my shirt. Leaving a trailing fire as his fingers dug into me.
Throwing my head back, I moaned out his name as he cupped my bum into his hands.
I could feel him shudder under me as I grinded down on him.
My fingers itched to run through his perfectly messy hair. But instead I traced his lips once more.
Now they were pulled into a perfect ‘o‘ as I grinded again on him. Perfectly swollen with our rushed kisses.
“Take me to bed.” I whispered into his ear.
Instead of him taking off into my room as I expected he froze. Pushing me so he could see onto my eyes.
Long gone was the burning desire in his eyes. Now they were replaced with worry, and confusion.
“No.”
My mouth dropped into an ‘o‘. But not one of desire like Caleb had had. Instead it was an ‘o‘ of rejection and humiliation.
Immediatly I pushed myself away from him and across the couch.
“No, baby not like that.” He groaned as he ran his fingers through his tousled locks.
No. That word again. My cheeks burned with humiliation making my eyes sting with tears.
What the hell was going on with me. Why was I throwing myself at him like a sex craved animal!

My wolf growled as my prier thought ran through my mind once more.
I am not being irrational. I hissed back.
“Ari, are you listening to me.”
My eyes snapped back to Caleb. His face was turned into a frown as he shifted in his seat.
I would have laughed at him trying to control his …little him… If it had been any other situation.
“Yeah.” I mumbled biting down on my swollen lip.
“Please look at me.” He begged scooting closer to me, making me tense in my seat.
“Dammit!” He cursed rubbing his hand on his face. “I know this isn’t what you want. Not when Gerardo is bringing the kids in half an hour. Not when you’re holding something back. Not when you’re emotionally unattached to me Ariana.” He growled making me slightly jump in my seat.
“You’re right. I’m sorry.” I whispered looking down at my shoes.
“Hell Ariana. I’ve been wanting to make love to you for weeks. But not like this baby. I want you completely.” His lips softly met mine in a simple and sweet kiss that made my heart flutter in my chest.
“I love you.” I smiled as we pulled apart.
“I love you so much more.” He laughed as he rested his forehead against mine.
I sighed in content as I opened my eyes to meet his beautiful Caribbean blue eyes. That drew me in like the ocean.
“You mean the world to me. I would do anything for our family.” I whispered as my fingers ran through the scruff of hair behind his neck. “Anything.” I repeated as I laid another kiss on his addictive lips.

“Thank you daddy.” I smiled kissing his cheek as we walked together to his car.
“It was nothing Darling.” He shrugged. “I’ve hardly seen my grandkids, it was a pleasure to watch over them.”

“How was it? How was she?” He questioned.
“She was wonderful. She looks scarily like me. And she’s the sweetest thing….” I smiled remembering the way her eyes would brighten throughout our short conversation.
And the the way her nose would scrunch, like Zoey’s, when she disliked something.

My eyebrows shot up as the unfamiliar name rang throughout my head.
