After the Tenth Slap 6

Chapter 6

Ashley rushed Ruirui to the hospital. Thankfully, it was nothing serious-sudden fainting caused by extreme emotion- al distress.

But the doctor recommended seeing a psychologist.

Witnessing a parent’s affair could scar a child for life, requiring immediate intervention.

The moment Ruirui woke, he choked out, “Daddy bad! Don’t want Daddy!”

Ashley held him gently, unsure how to comfort him.

The phone rang suddenly-Aaron.

“Nothing happened with Nicole. Ruirui misunderstood. Your words got around. Nicole can’t handle the gossip. Post a clarification on your Social Media Feed.”

Ashley clenched her teeth and hung up. Then she booked immediate flight tickets to Australia for herself and her son.

The day after tomorrow is the last day of the cooling-off period.

The next morning, just after she got up, several men suddenly broke down her door and barged in, grabbing her right in front of her child.

Only when she was taken to the house she’d painstakingly renovated brick by brick did she realize Aaron was behind this.

His gaze at her was icy cold.

“Nicole tried to kill herself by cutting her wrists this morning.”

“I’ve told you there’s nothing between us! Why won’t you believe me? She almost died!!!”

“Is it so hard to post a clarification on your Social Media Feed?”

“If you can’t even muster that much empathy, then you should experience fear yourself.”

Ashley struggled wildly, “What are you doing?”

Aaron parted his thin lips, uttering coldly: “You’re terrified of snakes, right?”

Ashley instantly broke out in goosebumps-normally she couldn’t even stand hearing the word “snake”.

She was terrified to this extent.

“Aaron! This was all orchestrated by Nicole!” She hurriedly pulled out the recording of Nicole threatening her last time.

Hearing “just wait to bury your son,” Aaron’s expression darkened as he looked at Nicole eiled up on the sofa

Nicole immediately pretended to cry pitifully: “Sis-in-law, you deliberately provoked me into saying those things just to have a backup plan…”

Aaron believed her in an instant, slamming his phone down. “Get this vicious woman out of here!”

“Aaron! You can’t do this to me!”

Ashley struggled fiercely, her voice trembling with tears from sheer terror.

But he just bent down to tuck the blanket around Nicole curled on the sofa, his face grim with lingering fear,

Ashley was thrown into the storage room in the backyard.

When a cold living thing coiled around her ankle, she screamed wildly, wishing she could chop off her leg, gouge out her eyes, and shut down all her senses.

There was nothing in the room to defend herself with.

And there wasn’t just one creature, but a whole nest!

Ashley pressed against the door, shrieking hysterically like a madwoman.

She remembered the only time in her life she’d bravely faced such creatures.

Back then, she and Aaron were hiking when, during a rest break, she spotted a snake dangling from a tree, targeting

Aaron.

At the critical moment, she reached out and grabbed it, flinging it off the cliff.

It was a venomous serpent; had she missed, she’d have been the one to die.

Aaron called her foolish, holding her tight while comforting her repeatedly, gazing at her with stars in his eyes.

He promised to do everything to keep such creatures away from her, to spare her this terror.

True to his word, he spent a fortune installing snake repellents that protected the whole neighborhood.

Yet now he’d personally thrown her into fear’s abyss!

Ashley wept bitterly, consumed by regret.

Regretting choosing him, loving him, saving him.

She truly regretted it…
