She smirked. “You don’t believe me? Sam never
stood up for you when I set you up. It’s not
because he didn’t want to. It’s because he’s in
love with me. You grew up with him, but I’m the
one he loves now!”

Max gloated about how she’d set me up and said my parents deserved to die early. If they hadn’t, I wouldn’t have been able to meet Sam.
I slapped her and told her to marry Sam.

After a few hours, the plane landed at Hong Kong Airport.
The grad student who was picking me up took me to school and helped me get settled in. Then she asked me to have dinner with her.
She was from Hong Kong and spoke great English.
I was new to the area and wanted to get to know the place, so I agreed.
The grad student took me around a bit and
dropped me off at school.

I was getting ready for bed when my phone
rang.
It was Sam’s friend, Mitch. I ignored it.
But Mitch kept calling. Annoyed, I answered.
“What?”
“Sunnie, you have to come! Sam’s waiting for
you!”
“Sam and I broke up. Why would I celebrate his
birthday?”
Mitch stammered. “When did you guys break
up? Sam said it was only if the post got a
hundred likes. But it didn’t.”
“It did get a hundred likes. I have a screenshot.”
“Exes shouldn’t talk to each other. Please don’t
call me about Sam again. I don’t care.”
<
Before I hung up, I heard a heavy sigh and the
sound of something breaking.
I didn’t care and went to take a shower.
After I got out, I saw a video from Mitch.
Sam and Max were facing each other in formal
wear.
People were yelling: “Kiss! Kiss!”
Mitch captioned it: “Sunnie, if you don’t come,
Sam and Max might kiss!”
Sam and Max had already slept together.
Wasn’t kissing normal?
I ignored Mitch and turned off my phone.

Sam’s birthday party was being held at the
<
most famous club in town.
Everyone had brought Sam a gift.
Sam was sitting on the couch, looking bored.
He didn’t care about the gifts or the people.
He was staring at the door.
Next to him, Max was trying to get his
attention.
She was fuming. Everyone knew Sam was
waiting for Sunnie.
She had played a recording of Sunnie, and he
wasn’t supposed to have feelings for her
anymore.
But he was still hoping she would come.
Max prayed that Sunnie wouldn’t show up, and

her prayer was answered. Sunnie never came.

Sam looked at his watch and finally said, “Let’s
get started.”
“Sunnie’s not here. Maybe we should call her?”
Mitch said.
Sam nodded, and Mitch called Sunnie.
Everyone heard Sunnie telling Mitch that they
had broken up.
Max was thrilled, and Sam kicked over the
expensive wine.
The manager moved the party, but Sam wasn’t
happy. Finally, Mitch suggested playing Truth or
Dare.
Sam lost and had to kiss someone. Mitch
pushed Max closer and started recording.
