Chapter 6
Carter and Layla looked at me with hatred in their eyes. They immediately contacted the most authoritative testing agency in the city to redo the DNA test.
The reporters present were actually invited by Layla to support her. They were well–prepared, causing the incident to quickly gain attention online. Internet users called for a live broadcast to await the final results.
Seeing this, Layla turned around excitedly and confidently shouted, “I won’t disappoint those who support me! I’ll give you all a satisfactory answer right away.”
Subsequently, everyone headed to the most authoritative testing agency together, with the police following behind. After all, this concerned whether Matthew and I were involved in criminal activity, so they had to be present.
Soon, under everyone’s watchful eyes, Layla entered the testing room again, underwent another amniocentesis, and then came out to wait for the results.
As the staff went in to conduct the test, Layla turned to me with a cold smile and said, “Naomi, I never thought you could be so calculating. If I hadn’t reacted quickly, I would have been completely fooled by you. You’ve hurt me time and again, causing tremendous psychological damage. I demand you pay me ten million dollars in emotional distress compensation.”

Hearing her words, I realized she was demanding compensation just like in my previous life.
So I responded with my own cold smile, “You’re right. Now that this has blown up so much, Matthew and I have already suffered from cyberbullying. If the results show your child has nothing to do with Matthew, you’ll need to compensate us one million dollars for emotional distress.”
“How dare you say that? You’d better have the money ready,” Layla glared at me mockingly.
Afterward, she found her familiar broadcaster and tearfully complained about her grievances on camera. She planned to pre–record various videos to release after the results came out, just like in my previous life.
Unfortunately for her, her plan was doomed to fail.
A few hours later, the testing agency staff came out with the new results and announced in front of everyone: “The biological father of the child in Layla’s womb is Nathan.”
Hearing this result, everyone present was shocked.
Carter’s reaction was the most intense. He immediately grabbed the test results and exclaimed, “This is impossible! This is fake too! My wife is carrying Matthew’s child. How could this child possibly be my father’s?”

Hearing his words, Matthew said with disgust, “Stop slandering me, I understand now. So your wife staying at my house from the beginning was to set me up. No wonder she always sneaked into my room in the middle of the night. You two were trying to frame me.”
Layla turned pale. She grabbed Carter’s arm and questioned in a lowered voice, “How could the result be like this? We spent so much money on in vitro fertilization. How could this child be your father’s?”
Carter angrily gritted his teeth and turned to slap Layla across the face. “You’re asking me now? Who else should I ask? You slut, don’t tell me you seduced my father too? Tell me right now!”
Layla was stunned by the slap and burst into tears. “How dare you hit me? Carter, you’re a bastard! This was your idea, but now you’re accusing me.”
Carter said furiously, “I told you to get pregnant with Matthew’s child. That way, we could sue him. I didn’t tell you to sleep with my father.”
“No! Naomi, it was you!” Layla finally realized.
She rushed in front of me, grabbing my collar. “You switched the condoms. You set me up, didn’t you? You bitch!”
