I sneered, “Just because? Leon, in your eyes, is this job that I earned through my own abilities so insignificant? What gives you the right to make me give my job to someone else?”
Leon clenched his jaw, veins bulging on his arms. “Because I’m your husband!”
I pulled the divorce certificate from his hand and waved it in the air. “Not anymore!”
I looked at Mark. “Let’s go. There’s no need to waste everyone’s time because of me.”
Mark nodded.
Leon stared at my back, and when I suddenly turned around, a glimmer of hope flashed in his eyes.
“Danna, if you’re willing to apologize now, I still…”
I cut him off, “Remember to give me those two thousand dollars within two days. If you give it today, then $1,800 will be enough.”
Leon froze, as if something had been drained from within him.
Ariel watched helplessly as I got into the car.

Leon stopped Mark. “Mr. Campos, Ariel’s translation skills are absolutely no worse than Danna’s. Let her come along too.”
Ariel looked expectantly at Mark.
But Mark turned to me. I smiled and turned to Ariel, saying, “Tout est possible. Ariel, do you know what that means?”
Ariel stared at me, dumbfounded. “I….. I…..”

She turned to Leon with a pleading look in her eyes. But how would Leon know?
Two minutes later, she still couldn’t say a word, and Mark had already understood her translation abilities.
I mocked, “It means anything is possible. Except for your skills being better than mine–that’s impossible.”
Ariel’s eyes reddened with anger as she shouted, “Danna, what do you mean? You can speak French because you eavesdropped on my lapes and stole my books!”
I shrugged. “Those were all bought with our marital assets by Leon. Why shouldn’t I use them? You fall asleep the moment you hear French and know nothing about the language, yet you want an overseas assignment? Ridiculous!”
Leon looked at Ariel with disbelief. “Ariel, didn’t you say you were seriously studying French?”
