After rebirth, I’m only myself
Chapter 1

In my previous life, I lived to be seventy–six years old. I thought I had lived a happy life with no regrets.
Until after my husband Leon Hale died, when his lawyer announced at the funeral that he had left all his assets to his beloved Ariel Bates and nothing to me. Only then did I realize what Leon truly felt for Ariel.
After I calmed down, I decided to sue Ariel for taking what should have been our marital property.
When my son heard the news, he imprisoned me in our home and warned me: “Dad couldn’t be with the person he loved. All he could leave Ariel was money. Mom, if you insist on suing her, I’ll cut ties with you!”
Watching my son yell at me, I fainted from anger.
When I opened my eyes again, I had been reborn in the 1970s. Everything was just beginning.
In this life, I want neither husband nor son.
As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw my son Zayn Hale tugging at my clothes, stubbornly saying, “Mom, I want you to stay home with me! Don’t go to work!”

Seeing that I didn’t respond, he pouted, his eyes immediately turning red.
The familiar feeling of heartache surged within me.
But when I remembered his words from my previous life-“I’ll cut ties with you“-I felt a sharp pain in my heart.
I believed I was a good mother. In my previous life, I gave Zayn enough love and attention, caring for his studies and daily life.
To be with him, I willingly gave up my high–paying translation job to Ariel, just so I could give Zayn a complete childhood.
In the end, I gladly served as a housewife for decades.
But only after my death did I learn that the reason Zayn refused to let me work that day was because Leon had told him: “If your mom goes to work, no one will take you to school anymore, no one will make you breakfast, and your classmates will mock you for being a child without a mother.”
Thinking about this, I smiled bitterly. They were all so ungrateful.
I said, “Zayn, you can’t get what you want by throwing tantrums. I worked hard to get this job. Why should I give it up just because you want me to stay with you?”

Then, ignoring Zayn’s reaction, I walked back to my room and locked the door.
Zayn froze for a moment, then rushed over and began kicking and punching the door. “Bad woman, you’re not my mom! I don’t want you to be my mom anymore!”
If the old me had heard these words, I would have panicked, gone out to hug Zayn, and comforted him.
But now I didn’t care. Living this life again, I only wanted to live for myself.
I said, “If you don’t want me to be your mom, then tell your dad to divorce me. I can’t wait.”
Zayn stood frozen. He was somehow afraid and stopped talking, running to the doorway to look outside, waiting for Leon to
return.
I looked around the familiar room, took a deep breath, and touched the old familiar items.
When I saw our wedding photo, I finally believed completely that I had been reborn.
In all the years of marriage with Leon, our only photo together was taken at our wedding.
In my previous life, we lost this photo when we moved, and I

was sad for a long time, but Leon never suggested taking another one with me.
Now I realized it was because he no longer loved me.
A familiar set of footsteps sounded, followed by coughing.
