Chapter 68
“If the child in your belly is Richard’s, I’ll kneel down and apologize to you and I’ll hand over the Woodward Family. But if the child isn’t Richard’s, you’ll commit suicide on the spot to apologize. How about it?“}
Richard looked nervous, his heart racing. Meanwhile, Agatha continued crying.
“Let’s gamble. I’m not afraid. I have a clear conscience!“}
“I need to go to the hospital now. I feel really bad!” she cried.}
The guard brought over two chairs. I pulled my brother to sit down.
“Want to run? You and Richard are the same. I haven’t settled Thomas’s account with you yet.“}
“Thomas has no interest in going to school. He would rather live in a dog cage than skip class!” Agatha said, pointing the blame at him. “I’ve spoken to him many times about this. The teacher has called us several times. It makes me so angry, I almost had a heart attack.”
“You don’t know how twisted this child is,” Agatha continued.
“We didn’t let him live in a dog cage, so he threatened to kill himself! Isn’t that right, Thomas? Tell Elizabeth. It’s you who wants to live in a dog cage, not us!“}
Agatha glared at my brother and he quickly ran into my arms, crying.
“Don’t be afraid, Thomas. Tell the truth. Is Agatha hurting you?“}
My brother cried harder, but he still didn’t answer.
“Why won’t you say anything, kid? Tell Elizabeth the truth! Don’t let her falsely accuse me!” Agatha shouted as she took a step toward him, but one of the guards quickly stepped in front of her.
My brother cried even louder, so I comforted him.”
“Agatha, if you won’t admit it, I’ll bring in the people who know.“}
The guard brought in two servants. They were hunched over, clearly scared.
“Tell me everything you’ve seen.“}
“Mrs. Agatha Blackville often hurts little Mr. Woodward,” one of the servants said. “Whenever she’s upset, she takes it out on him.“}
“She hits him with a stick, whips him with a belt and pours boiling water on him.”
“I’ve also seen Mrs. Blackville stab the young Mr. Woodward with a hairpin and burn him with a curling iron.“}
“Mrs. Blackville didn’t feed the little Mr. Woodward. She forced him to eat dog food and bark like a dog. When he resisted, she beat him severely.“2
“She even cut up all his nice clothes, cut his hair and dragged him around. Once, he hit his head on the wall.”
Agatha was furious.
“You’re lying! You’re just making this up! How much did Elizabeth pay you to say this?“}
‘Richard, don’t listen to them. They’re just bribed by Elizabeth!” she shouted.}
“Elizabeth, where did I go wrong? Why do you want to hurt me like this? I swear I’ve never done anything wrong to you or your sister!” Agatha continued pleading.2
I sneered as I told her, “Keep pretending.“}
‘I didn’t do anything! Elizabeth is making all this up. You have to believe me, husband!” Agatha wailed.
“Bring the evidence.“}
One of the servants handed the phone to the guard, who passed it to me.
“This phone has the video of you beating my brother and here’s Thomas’s injury report.”
I threw my brother’s injury report to the ground and Richard immediately picked it up to read it. I projected the video onto the living room screen. My brother’s screams filled the room.
“Mom, please stop! I was wrong! I’ll be a dog! Please stop beating me!”
‘I’ll be a dog! I’ll bark like a dog! I’ll eat dog food!“}}
The desperation in my brother’s cries didn’t stir Agatha’s conscience. Instead, she only became more vicious.
“You worthless little brat. You should die like your mother. I’m wasting dog food by keeping you alive. Just die!” Agatha shouted.
