Blake instantly froze, a chill spreading through every fiber of his being. “What do you mean? Are you saying…”
“The leader of the thugs who ganged up on you back then was Scarlett Zhao’s biological brother, Brandon Zhao.”
Combining my statement, Scarlett Zhao’s, and Sawyer Hayes‘ testimonies, the truth lay bare before Blake.
That year, Scarlett Zhao had accidentally learned Blake’s true identity and mimicked my voice, talking to herself in a way that made Blake misunderstand me. But Blake still didn’t leave me, so she then orchestrated the “woods” incident
She had originally planned to step in and save Blake herself, hoping to gain the Blake family’s gratitude and perhaps more, but I appeared just in time, so she changed her plan. She claimed credit for saving him, using the Blake family’s compensation to successfully go abroad.
She lived lavishly overseas, racking up a mountain of debt, before shamefully returning to the country to find Blake again.
Blake stood up in disbelief, his voice suddenly rising. “I don’t believe It! Scarlett is such a gentle and wonderful person! How could she… She even has depression, a psychological scar from back then…”
The officer asked him coldly, “Oh, really? Have you seen her diagnostic records? Have you seen her take her medication?”
Blake’s heart felt like a deflated balloon, instantly losing all air. His lips pressed into a thin line.
He stayed in the detention room for an entire night. The next day, word came that he wanted to see me.
I refused. “I never want to see him again in my life.”

“He saved my life once, and to repay him, I’ve suffered more than enough.”
“From now on, we’re even.”
