Chapter 88
When Rowen walked in and saw Jalen beside me, he was clearly caught off guard.
“Jalen? I knew you had ulterior motives toward Alicia! So you’ve finally crawled back out of hiding?“}
He spoke loudly, as if trying to drown out his own guilt.
Jalen just chuckled softly, which only further infuriated Rowen.
“I knew it! You’ve been involved with her all along. Not even trying to pretend anymore, huh?“}
His words were disgusting. How dare he, the one who started all this, accuse others so shamelessly? It was like he’d completely forgotten everything between him and Rosalie.
“Ulterior motives? Rowen, do you really want me to list out everything you did back then?” I hissed. “If it weren’t for you, Jalen and I wouldn’t have been separated for so many years!“}
My anger surged, and I slammed my hand on the bed, making a dull thud.}
Rowen froze. He hadn’t expected that I had regained all of my memories.}
“You accuse me of having something with Jalen–what about you and Rosalie? Don’t take me for a fool, Rowen.“}
“I remember clearly how you treated Rosalie, and how you treated me.”
Back when we had just gotten married, and I moved into our new home, Rosalie had shamelessly followed us, claiming she was there as my maid.
In reality, she was lazy and spoiled, always sleeping in and doing nothing around the house. But the moment Rowen came home, she would put on an act, pretending she’d worked herself to exhaustion.
She would either complain to Rowen about how hard being a maid was or subtly imply that I was difficult to deal with.
At first, Rowen pretended to care about me. He said I needed more understanding because I was pregnant.”
But soon after, Rosalie refused to care for me at all and instead started tagging along with him everywhere, claiming to be his secretary.”
I saw through her games immediately and confronted Rowen. That was our first major fight.
After that, Rosalie toned down her behavior and stayed in the house.
Until she handed me that bowl of medicine, and then I lost the baby.
Rowen changed after that. He became irritable and short–tempered, and increasingly impatient with me.
Even when Rosalie acted out, he’d ask me to just bear with it.
And after I lost my memory, he became even more brazen in his treatment of me.}
I closed my eyes and forced the pain back down into my heart.”
“Alicia! You hired those people to put on that act–do you know how badly you frightened Rosalie? I haven’t even begun to hold you accountable for that!“}
“And now you dare speak to me like this? Tell me what you did–why did everyone accuse Rosalie of stealing your position when I brought her to the company today?”
“Oh, and what about the rotten eggs thrown at her? How could you do that?“}
17
No wonder Rosalie hadn’t dared come inside. She’d been lingering by the door this entire time. The stench of rotten eggs had started to seep into the room–I instinctively covered my nose.”
Rosalie stomped her foot in rage.”
Rowen’s accusations were laughable. Everyone knew it was Rosalie who staged everything, yet he tried to pin it on me?”
I shook my head, unwilling to dignify his nonsense.”
As for the second accusation, I turned to Jalen.”
He understood instantly and stepped forward. “That was me,” he said flatly. “Rowen, do I need to explain how you built that company of yours?“%
“On what grounds did you transfer shares to Rosalie? Did she contribute anything–even a single cent?”
I was stunned. I had no idea Rowen had gone this far for Rosalie.!!
Feeling my gaze, Rowen shifted uncomfortably.
“She’s now part of the Webber family–how could she not have any shares? It’s just a small portion. Alicia, as her sister, what’s the harm in giving her a few?”
