Chapter 24%
“What is this?”
The maid didn’t say a word. She simply pressed a USB drive into Rowen’s hand.”
He walked to the study and plugged the drive into the computer.}
There was only one file–a surveillance video.
In the footage, Rosalie could be seen cooking for Alice years ago. She ladled a bowl of soup from the pot, then pulled a small packet from her pocket and poured its contents into the bowl.
Shortly after Alice drank the soup, she doubled over in pain. Blood seeped through her clothes as she collapsed to the ground in agony.” What chilled him to the bone was how Rosalie just stood there, utterly indifferent, while Alice pleaded for help.
She wouldn’t let the maid call an ambulance for Alice, nor would she allow Alice to make the call herself.”
Later, when Rowen returned home, Rosalie had rushed into his arms, feigning fear and vulnerability, manipulating him while Alice bled alone on the floor.
As Rowen finished watching the video, a cold sweat broke out across his back.
So it had all been true.
Rosalie had really been that cruel.
What shocked him even more was his own behavior–how cold and heartless he’d been to Alice back then, how blind he had been to Rosalie’s lies. Regret washed over him in waves.
Seeing Alice pleading for help in the footage while he defended Rosalie crushed him. He had failed her. And now, the truth had come too
late.

Meanwhile, my mother and I were taking over everything at the Webber Corporation.}]
I was in the middle of a meeting when Rowen suddenly burst in.
With tears streaming down his cheeks, he dropped to his knees in front of me. “Alice, I was wrong.””
His very first words were a confession of guilt.
After sending everyone else out of the conference room, I stood before him.
After all, I had also taken over his company. The shares he originally planned to transfer to Rosalie couldn’t be moved because of my legal agreements.
If he hadn’t given up and cooperated in handing over control to me, I could have taken him to court,
He looked rough these past few days–with unkempt hair and no place to live after being kicked out.
“Alice, I’ve seen everything you sent me. I understand now. I hate that I was deceived by Rosalie and failed to see your sincere love for me.”
Tears continued to flow down from Rowen’s eyes as he begged me for another chance.}]
“Rowen, if you never loved me, then why were you with me? Now you only regret it because you’ve lost everything.”
I shook my head and started to tell him to leave.”
?
But Rowen refused, pouring out his sorrows. “Alice, if it weren’t for that drink you gave me back then, Rosalie said she would have married me… So I hated you. But then she told me not to treat you badly, urged me to live well with you. I was the one who failed to see her true nature–I hurt you.”
Rowen was lost in painful memories.
I glanced at him and sneered. “You think I was the one who ruined you? Rowen, the one I’ve always loved was Jalen, Rosalie deliberately spiked the drink I gave you.“%
Rowen’s expression froze. “Impossible!”
*Rosalie said she loved me–why would she ever push me away?“}}
Seeing he still wouldn’t accept Rosalie’s true face, I felt sorry for him.
“Rowen, have you ever thought about why Rosalie showed no reaction–maybe even happiness–when you and I got married?*%
*She conspired with my father, brainwashed me into thinking you were the only one I could marry, and vice versa. Then she worked to slowly take away my assets after the wedding.”
“Think about it–didn’t she advise you to tell Jalen to leave? Didn’t she want you to accept me willingly? If she really loved you, how could she bear to see the man she loved marry someone else?‘
