Chapter 19%
What?!
I jumped up in shock.”
Rowen handed me a document.”
It was a paternity test. I opened it and saw that it clearly stated there was no biological relation between my father and me.” My hands clenched the paper tightly as my eyes scanned through it rapidly. Suddenly, a wave of panic welled up inside me. Jalen patted my shoulder, looking at me with steady determination, giving me a strange but much–needed courage.
I told myself to stay calm and not be fooled by Rowen.
Rowen then handed me another document.
I took it and saw another divorce agreement, one that would leave me empty–handed.}]
Rowen was playing his cards well–keeping my money, but trying to push me out the door.”
When I was still close with my father, Rowen wouldn’t dare treat me this way. But now that we had openly torn ties with him, were they teaming up to take me down?>
And now they were trying to confuse me with some fake paternity test from who knows where.
I chuckled coldly.
I tore both documents up casually, and Rowen’s face immediately darkened.}
“Rowen, do you take me for a fool? You know better than my own mother whether I’m Dad’s daughter or not. What’s the point of a fake Paternity test?“>
“Besides, if anyone should be leaving empty–handed, it’s you.”
I threw the shredded papers right in his face.
Rowen got angry. “What are you doing?! Your father knows about this, and your identity will soon be made public.”
“Alicia, you’d better accept the truth.”
He smirked mysteriously and pulled out his phone.
To my shock, Dad was holding a press conference, publicly apologizing and claiming I was a fake daughter trying to frame him. He announced plans to kick me out and officially recognize Rosalie as his true family.
Rowen then showed “evidence“: photos of my mother with another man.
He claimed my mother had me before she even met Dad.
I didn’t even glance at the photos and cut him off coldly.
“Where did you even get this? Don’t tell me Dad told you. Is there a single true word that ever comes out of his mouth?“>
Rowen tightened his grip on the phone.
Then I noticed another phone lying in the corner of the table.
I glanced at Jalen and whispered something to him quietly.”
Soon Jalen slipped out of the room.>
Rowen watched Jalen leave and relaxed a little.”
“Alicia, I know you don’t want to believe it. But your mother lied to you. Tell me, were you born earlier than expected?“>
I was stunned. How could he know about that?”
Mom had fallen just before giving birth, causing me to be born prematurely.
I never expected this incident, after all these years, would be used to slander her.
There was an odd look of anticipation in Rowen’s eyes.”
What was he waiting for??
Was he hoping I’d admit it?!
Even if it was true, I could never admit it now.
He was trying to use my birth timing as “evidence.”
Mom had given birth at a private hospital arranged by my grandfather, and all records were kept confidential, so they had no way of knowing the exact time.!!
At that moment, Jalen returned and leaned close and whispered, “Rowen is recording everything. He’s trying to trick you.“%
I understood immediately–this was a trap.
Dad was out there trying to smear me and Mom, while Rowen was looking for any little inconsistency to exaggerate and turn everyone against me.
Taking a deep breath, I told Jalen, “Let’s put the plan into action.“W
If they were going to face me without mercy, then I would give back just as fiercely.
I opened Dad’s press conference stream.
He kept showing his so–called “evidence” and claimed the poisoning of Mom was a misunderstanding.
12:28 PM
He kept showing his so–called “evidence” and claimed the poisoning of Mom was a misunderstanding.
O
Apparently, the housekeeper had confessed to poisoning Mom because she couldn’t stand my mother bullying her.
Everyone suddenly thought Mom was a cruel woman.
I was furious and tried to speak, but Jalen held me back.
He signaled that Rowen was still here.§
I exhaled and forced myself to stay calm.
I didn’t respond but looked at my phone.
Dad looked anxious now. He and Rowen had conspired to attack me first, hoping that if I slipped up, he could clear his name publicly.
But Rowen hadn’t made a move yet, making him nervous.
Rowen’s phone kept buzzing–it was probably Dad sending him messages.
