I crossed my arms and looked at them with a wry smile. “If you have a backup plan of your own, then why come looking for me?“>
Before Dad could respond, Tessa walked over.
She looked at me apologetically.
“Miss Alicia, I really didn’t mean to pretend to be your mother. But as your father said, Webber Corporation needs to clear things up quickly, or it will go bankrupt. Surely you don’t want your family’s company to collapse, do you?“}
“I’d actually be glad if it went bankrupt,” I said carelessly. Webber Corporation was built by exploiting my mother’s suffering–I’d rather see it fall apart.
