Chapter 11%
These past few days, I’ve been staying at the place Jalen arranged.
It’s a perfect environment for Mom to recover, and Jalen even found a professional family doctor and medical equipment for her.
Mom’s health was better than before–she can even get out of bed and walk now.
Lately, all my attention has been on my mother, almost making me forget the unfinished business from before.
Until Rowen came knocking at the door.
“Alicia, can you open the door and meet with me?”
Beside him was Dad.
My father, now over fifty, had graying hair. Standing at the door and knocking like that made passersby pity him deeply.
However, only I knew why they had come this time.?
Although the divorce papers with Rowen were never signed, seeing how he treated Rosalie–and how Dad treated Mom–I had a new idea.
I gathered all the evidence and exposed their actions publicly.2
Soon, Rowen and the Webber family’s reputation was completely ruined.
Everyone on the internet was condemning them–calling them ungrateful scoundrels who harmed their own wives.
The Webber family was never Dad’s alone.}
Mom came from a very wealthy family, and after being with Dad, she was willing to pour all her assets into helping him. Because
of this, the company originally inherited by Mom was renamed and completely became my father’s company.
And Rowen, just like him, owed everything to women–yet they both wanted to destroy their wives.
How could I not expose this to the whole world to see??
My accusations gave the situation more weight.
They fell into a dangerous position as many business partners refused to associate with them anymore.
I walked to the door, where Rowen begged me desperately.”
“What are you doing here? You must have gotten the news by now, right?”
He pulled his hand away from the door and forced a smile as he spoke. “Alicia, it’s all a misunderstanding. I checked with your father after ! went back–it was a jealous maid who poisoned your mother.”%
“I didn’t know anything about this. The day your mother was vomiting blood, I was rushing to the hospital with her. We’ve been married for nearly thirty years–how could I harm her?” Dad anxiously backed him up, showing me footage on his phone.”
It was home surveillance footage showing a maid putting something into Mom’s water.
Even so, I couldn’t believe him.Z
“Rosalie said it was you! And Mom was poisoned right under your nose–how could you not have noticed all these years? How do you expect me to believe you?“%
I yelled at Father and told him to leave.%
“Alicia!”
Suddenly, I heard the sound of something heavy hitting the floor–he had knelt down!
I had never seen Dad so humiliated before.
Tears welled up in his eyes.%
“Alicia, don’t forget, I am your father. I am also your mother’s husband. How could I ever harm you both?”
“There must be some misunderstanding. Can you please say something online in defense of your father?“!
He was crying so hard I couldn’t bear to look at him and averted my gaze.?
People on the street had already started whispering and pointing fingers at me–their strange looks made me uncomfortable.
I told him to get up, but he only raised his voice louder.
“Alicia, you can’t let your father be shamed by thousands of people at his age, can you?”
Seeing my father like this somehow reminded me of the past.
He was indeed a good husband and a good father–if it weren’t for Rosalie.
Even though everyone believed I was his favorite daughter, and he said so as well, only I knew the truth–he only pretended to like me more, but he actually favored Rosalie !
Everything I had, Rosalie had too–sometimes even better things than me..!
At first, I thought it was because he pitied Rosalie for losing her mother so young.
Until one day, I secretly overheard their conversation inside my father’s study
“Rosalie, we have to look ahead. Although no one knows who you are now, and you envy your sister, who knows what the future holds? Your father loves you just as much.”
Dad’s heartfelt words deeply moved Rosalie.
That’s when I realized Dad was truly biased toward Rosalie.£
