Chapter 100
“Dad?” I gasped in disbelief.}
How could he be here?!
He was surrounded by a group of men–his henchmen.
I approached him, full of questions.
“Dad, what are you planning to do to Mom?!“}
When Dad saw me, his smile was awkward.
I hadn’t forgotten that he had openly acknowledged Rosalie’s identity–and hidden Mom in such a secretive hospital.
“Alicia, why are you in such a hurry to come here?“>
He noticed the sweat on my brow and reached out with a tissue to wipe it away.
It was such a routine gesture–one he had done for me countless times before.
He had always treated me well.
And because of that, I still couldn’t understand how he could betray Mom, and betray me.§
I took a step back and pulled away from his hand.
Dad was taken aback but still pressed the tissue into my palm.
“You should wipe it. Don’t catch a cold.”
I pushed his hand away again, my chest tightening as I pointed toward the chaotic ward.
“Dad! What are you doing? What did Mom ever do wrong? Why are you treating her like this?“>
On the way here, Jalen had listened to everything about my mother. He said he could help transfer her to a more reputable hospital for proper treatment.
So by the time we arrived, even as I confronted Dad, he had already arranged for someone to take Mom away.
Hearing his people say that Mom was fine, I quietly breathed a sigh of relief.}
If you’ve already lost all feelings for Mom and are so eager to protect that illegitimate daughter, then I will take Mom with me.“)
I glanced at him and then headed toward the hospital room.
Unexpectedly, Dad grabbed my sleeve.§
“No! You can’t take your mother away. She’s ill and needs better care.”
At that moment, Rowen and Rosalie arrived.}
Seeing us arguing, Rowen came over.
“Alicia, stop acting like a child. I know you’re worried about your mother, but she needs to be in a better hospital.“} His words sounded like concern, but I sneered.
“So that means labeling a perfectly normal person as mentally ill? I saw Mom just a few days ago–she’s not sick!“}
My voice trembled as I continued, “And do I really need to explain why she was hospitalized in the first place?”
I turned to my father. His refusal to meet my eyes sent a cold shiver through me.
I didn’t know whether to blame Mom and me for being naïve, or all men for being such skilled actors–deceiving us all these years.
I never imagined that the man everyone saw as a loving father could be the one poisoning my mother.
“I’m taking her with me,” I said it firmly, then resolutely walked toward Mom’s room.
Charmaine had tears in her eyes. I hugged her gratefully.”
“I remember everything now. I won’t let them get away with this. Thank you.”
I told her to leave for her own safety–it was better not to get her involved further in the Webber family mess.
Inside the room, I saw Mom still lying down.
She started crying as soon as she saw me–she had heard everything I said outside,
I comforted her gently, then glanced at Jalen’s men standing guard.
“Let’s go.“”
Only after we left did realize why Dad and Rowen had stopped blocking me.”
After I spoke, Jalen must have understood what intended and immediately prevented them from interfering.
Jalen, who had been trained as a bodyguard since childhood, stood firmly by my side. His imposing, muscular frame intimidated them, leaving them no choice but to watch as I entered the ward and brought my mother out.
Seeing Jalen stand outside like a knight protecting me made me feel incredibly safe.
In the end, we left.”
But Dad, terrified his deeds would be exposed, actually came looking for me to try and make peace.
