Chapter 28 – Crossing Paths With The She–Devil
Everyone was watching me, waiting for my next words.
I looked at Henry still kneeling, his face stained with tears.
The kids stood quietly, their small hands clinging to my clothes, their eyes wide and hopeful.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my emotions…
“I think… it’s time you all leave,” I said softly
The kids gasped.

I kneeled down, brushing her hair gently. “I promise to visit you soon, okay? But tonight. I need space.” Caleb looked at me with trembling lips. “Promise?
“I promise, Caleb,” I whispered, kissing his forehead.
Henry opened his mouth to argue, but I cut him off with a firm glance.

His face crumbled, but he stood up slowly, wiping his tears.
His grandfather walked over to me. For the first time, he smiled gently. “You’ve made your choice, Jasmine,” he said calmly. “And I respect that.”
I nodded, surprised by his words.}
“Thank you, sir.”
He placed his hand on my shoulder. “You’re a strong woman. I see that now“!!
They all left quietly, except for Henry who kept looking back at me, his eyes desperate and broken.
But I stood still, my heart heavy yet peaceful X
Finally, I had taken back control of my life.

Later that night, as the house settled into silence,

That night, we let down all our walls.X
We kissed and touched each other like two people finally free of their past.
It was passionate, yet tender.
For once, I didn’t feel broken,
I felt… whole.
The next morning, I woke up feeling light and alive!
But that feeling didn’t last long!
As I walked to the gate to get some fresh air, I saw him.

He was there, sitting on the ground like a man who had lost everything.
Tears rolled down his face, his hair disheveled, his eyes hollow.
“Henry. I sighed, exhausted. “What are you doing here?”
He stood up, brushing the dirt off his clothes.
“I couldn’t sleep. I needed to see you. I needed to..” His voice cracked, needed to remind you that I still love you.”
I shook my head, my patience wearing thin. “Sleeping outside my gate won’t change anything, Henry”
“I’m not leaving he whispered.}
I folded my arms. “Suit yourself, But don’t expect me to come running back.”
I turned away, leaving him standing there like a shadow of the man he used to be!!
I needed to focus on my new life now!
Later that afternoon, I went shopping with Rose.
We laughed as we tried on bridal dresses. It was finally happening, my big wedding.
As I walked out of the bridal store, arms filled with bags, someone bumped hard into me.!!
The scent of cheap perfume filled my nose before I even looked up.

Her eyes burned with fury as she stared at me ||

I rolled my eyes. “Bianca, I don’t have time for your drama today.”

“Oh, but I do!” she snapped, slapping the bags from my hands. “You think you can steal everything from me? My man. the kids. My position. You think you can just walk around with your nose in the air like you’re better than me?”;
“I didn’t steal anything.” I replied calmly. “Henry was never yours. And the kids? They were mine from the beginning”
She laughed bitterly. “Keep lying to yourself, Jasmine. You ruined everything.”
“You ruined yourself, Bianca,” I shot back. “By lying. By poisoning innocent kids against their mother”
Her face twisted in rage.
“Don’t act like a saint, Jasmine! You’re no better than me. You’re just a pathetic woman who can’t even keep her man.”
I shook my head. “You’re wrong, Bianca. I’m a woman who finally learned her worth.”
Her hand shot out, grabbing my dress.
“You think this is over?” she hissed, her eyes crazed. “It’s not. I’ll make sure you suffer. You’ll wish you never crossed paths with me.” I yanked my dress free. “Go to hell, Bianca.”
“Oh, honey,” she sneered, stepping closer, “hell is where I live. And I’m dragging you down with me.
She stormed off, her heels clicking angrily against the floor!
I stood frozen for a moment, heart pounding.X
Rose rushed over, picking up the fallen bags.
“Jasmine, are you okay?” she asked, concerned. I nodded slowly, but inside, I was shaken.
Bianca was dangerous.
And something told me….she wasn’t done yet.
