Chapter 6
My second brother kicked him hard and Caedric was sent flying, slamming into the wall before crumpling to the floor again.
The eldest brother charged over, mounted him and began pounding his fists into Caedric’s face in a frenzy.N
Caedric’s face quickly swelled with bruises and blood spilled from the corners of his mouth as he struggled in vain.N
“You bastard! You actually manipulated my sister like this and tried to steal the Mirelin Family’s assets? Today, I’ll make sure you die without a grave!”
Furious, my eldest brother took out his phone and made several calls immediately.
“Yes, cut off all cooperation with the Arclayne Group, immediately.“N
“Hello? Launch an investigation into the Arclayne Group’s environmental compliance.“N
“This is me. The Arclayne Group’s bid for the suburban land is now invalid.”
My father–in–law became anxious and grabbed hold of my eldest brother’s arm.
“No, please, this is all a misunderstanding. I’ll investigate everything thoroughly and give Giselle the explanation she deserves.”
“Trust me. If that bastard really did all this, I’ll drive him out of the family myself.”
“Calm down first. You know I’ve always treated Giselle like my own daughter.”
I reached out to stop my eldest brother’s phone call and signaled my second brother to stand down. I turned to face my father–in–law with a serious expression.
“Dad, I know you’ve always loved me, but what Caedric did was serious crime. Everyone is here today and it’s time the Arclayne Family and the Mirelin Family faced the truth.”
My father–in–law nodded, his expression hardening.
“Don’t worry. There has never been a man without morals or conscience in the Arclayne Group. If he really did this, I will punish him harshly according to the family rules.”
He turned and motioned for the bodyguards to bring Caedric forward. They lifted him and supported him as they approached.&
My father–in–law stared at him for a long moment before letting out a heavy sigh.
“Caedric, did you deliberately switch Giselle’s child and allow Sandra to torture that boy to death?”
Caedric’s face was bloodless now, his expression twisted with rage. He glared at me but said nothing.N
My father–in–law fixed him with a cold, commanding gaze. Then, in a low, firm voice, he ordered, “Bring him to the family’s
hall.”
“Take my business card. Send Sandra to the police station. Let them carry out a full investigation.”
“I did it!” Caedric suddenly roared.§
“It was all my idea. It has nothing to do with Sandra.”
He glared at me in resentment.
“Sandra grew up all alone, suffering endlessly. She followed me for so long without a name or status. Our child was looked down on, ridiculed as illegitimate.“>
“Giselle, you’ve been pampered since birth. You’ve had everything handed to you. You could never understand how Sandra feels. Why should she always lose to you?”
I stared coldly at Caedric and sneered.
“So, because her life was miserable, you thought my child should pay the price for it?”
“Caedric Arclayne, have you ever stopped to think? He is your child too, your own flesh and blood. Even a wild beast won’t harm its own cubs. How could you stand by and allow him to be tortured to death?“\
As I recalled the tragic deaths of my Elion and Lyra in my previous life, how they were ultimately discarded in the wilderness like garbage to be fed to stray dogs, an unbearable pain surged in my chest.
As their biological father, Caedric had actually watched them die such a horrific death without a flicker of pity or remorse. A man capable of that was not someone worth loving, let alone dying for.”
For the first time, a rare flicker of guilt crossed Caedric’s face.
“I didn’t expect it to end like that. I thought, at worst, he’d grow up with a harder life, but he would still grow up.”
I let out a bitter laugh. Sandra had schemed tirelessly, aiming to rise in status and become the legitimate lady of the Arclayne Group. How could she possibly allow my child to survive?
I turned toward my father–in–law and said firmly, “Dad, everything is now clear. I want to take Elion and Lyra back with me to the Mirelin Family. From this day forward, the Mirelin and Arclayne families will go their separate ways.“!
Caedric abruptly stood up upon hearing this.
“Giselle, you can leave if you like, but what right do you have to take Elion and Lyra with you? They are the descendants of the Arclayne Group. This isn’t up to you.“”
I met Caedric’s gaze with?
a cold, emotionless stare and replied icily, “And why not? Because they have a father who is
more vicious than any wild animal?”
“If I hadn’t been alert, the ashes scattered in the gutter today would have belonged to Elion.”
“If I hadn’t been alert, the ashes scattered in the qu
