Chapter 56 Doctor’s Orders and Disorder
Chapter 56 Doctor’s Orders and Disorder
Victor lightly slapped his own face, dramatically asking, “Does your face hurt now?”
Vivienne coldly stared at him. “This thing with Serena, it was you, wasn’t it?”
Victor’s frequent appearances around her and Serena were obviously intentional, simply to provoke them.
Serena, being quite straightforward and already feeling aggrieved since her marriage, couldn’t possibly tolerate Victor’s taunts.
Pleased with himself, Victor boasted with his nose in the air, “So what if it was me? Even if the trouble involved you, Eddy wouldn’t blame me.”
Something seemed to amuse Victor even more.
“After I splashed water on you last time, Eddy didn’t distance himself from me because of that. Do you know what that means?”
Vivienne’s eyes narrowed, her gaze growing even icier.
Pretending to be troubled, Victor sighed softly and turned to the two receptionists, “Ah, I came on a whim today, didn’t make an appointment. It’s not a problem to see Eddy now, right?”
The receptionist quickly smiled. “Mr. Victor and Mr. Harrington are close; no appointment needed! Please, go right in, don’t let us keep you.”
Victor glanced disdainfully at Vivienne and meaningfully told the receptionists, “Always some shameless women trying to lure Eddy. Keep your eyes peeled, don’t let any brazen vixens slip through.”
The receptionists clearly got his drift, chuckling along, “Don’t worry, Mr. Victor, we won’t let strangers in.”
Satisfied, Victor went upstairs and excitedly recounted what he had just witnessed.
“Eddy, guess who I just saw downstairs? I
Edmund had just finished a meeting and
aw Vivienne!”
ecked his missed calls, his expression deepening.
“I told you,” Victor gloated, “you ignore Vivienne for a few days, and she’ll definitely come to you.”
“Just keep it up, and she’ll reveal her true colors soon enough.”
Half an hour later, the elevator doors opened again, and Victor and Edmund exited one after the other.
Vivienne stood up. “Edmund…”
She was interrupted by Victor.
“Eddy, let’s hurry. Something’s not right with Lillian; you need to check on her…”
Edmund hadn’t intended to pay Vivienne any mind, and with Victor’s urging, he passed by without a glance.
Vivienne blocked his path. “Just a minute…”
Victor’s voice was furious. “Vivienne, as desperate as you are, can’t you see the timing? Lillian’s in trouble,

and here you are, holding Eddy back. Are you trying to kill her on purpose? Vivienne, how can you be so vicious!”
Vivienne calmly responded, “When Mr. Victor was openly mocking me just now, you weren’t in such a hurry; why the sudden rush?”
Victor denied any wrongdoing. “Vivienne, stop stalling! If anything happens to Lillian, Eddy will never forgive you!”
Vivienne laughed, “Victor, you make it sound so interesting. I haven’t done anything, and yet I’m accused of murder? What, do I have some sort of supernatural power to kill from afar?”
“Vivienne, you…”
Edmund cut them off impatiently, “Enough.”
He looked at Victor. “Where’s Lillian? Take me there now.”
Vivienne frowned. “Edmund…”
Edmund coldly said, “Vivienne, if Lillian suffers because of your delay, then… I might really blame you.” Vivienne’s hand involuntarily loosened.
Edmund strode out. Victor, with a look of contempt, followed with a winner’s swagger.
The matter with Serena couldn’t be dragged out too long, and Vivienne wasn’t sure when she’d see Edmund next. She hailed a cab, following Edmund’s car to the hospital.
Vivienne wouldn’t rashly barge in but waited quietly outside until Edmund finished seeing Lillian to discuss Serena’s situation.
After all, disturbing Lillian’s “recovery” was no small matter.
An hour later, the hospital room door finally opened.
Edmund walked out, unsurprised to see her standing there. He didn’t glance her way, passing by without a sideways look.
