As Lillian spoke, a faint trace of worry appeared between her brows.

The moment Theo heard “violin,” h
immediately recalled the envious gazes of the children when Lillian
played in public not long ago.
“Theo’s mom is amazing! She’s just like a fairy! And his dad is so handsome!”
Unlike Vivienne, who couldn’t do anything, he never dared to talk about his own mother in front of the other kids.
“Ms. Lillian, you’ll be absolutely fine.” Theo’s small face was extremely serious. “If Mom doesn’t apologize to you this time, then I won’t acknowledge her as my mom anymore.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Vivienne walked in. For a brief moment, Theo felt guilty.
However, Vivienne didn’t look at him. Instead, she turned to Lillian. “Ms. Lillian, are you feeling better?”
“It’s nothing serious,” Lillian nodded. “Thank you, Ms. Everest, for visiting me.”
Lillian’s expression remained calm, without a trace of resentment or displeasure. This made Victor deeply unhappy. “Lillian, why are you being so polite to a murderer?”
“Mr. Victor, I am not a murderer.” Vivienne’s lips curled into a faint smile. “If I truly were, Ms. Lillian wouldn’t be sitting here safe and sound.”
Victor snapped, “You pushed Lillian down the stairs! If that wasn’t an attempt to kill her, then what was it? A failed murder attempt still makes you a criminal!”
Vivienne glanced at Lillian’s bandaged head, her tone indifferent.
“Victor, accusations require evidence. I’ve already explained, Ms. Lillian misstepped and fell on her own. I did not push her.”
“Vivienne, you’re twisting the truth!” Victor was the first to object.
He turned to Edmund, who had remained silent all this time. “Eddy, don’t you want justice for Lillian?” Edmund looked at Lillian. “How do you plan to handle this?”
Lillian’s face was pale as she whispered pitifully, “As long as my hands are fine… let’s just forget about it.”
Edmund frowned.
Before he could speak, Victor interjected, “You absolutely can’t let this murderer off so easily! Lillian, it’s because you’re too soft–hearted that some people think you’re weak and easy to bully!”
Hearing this, Vivienne couldn’t help but chuckle.
Victor glared at her. “Vivienne, what are you laughing at?”
Vivienne let out a slow, mocking sigh. “What a delicate little saint, so pure and untouchable…”
Before she could finish, Victor cut her off furiously. “Who are you calling a saint?”

This time, Vivienne didn’t bother with indirect jabs. She went straight for the attack. “Obviously, Lillian. Ms. Lillian.”
Victor nearly lost his temper again, but with Edmund and Theo present, he couldn’t resort to violence. Instead, he turned to Edmund for support. “Eddy, Lillian was pushed down the stairs by Vivienne and had to be rushed into surgery. Don’t tell me you’re going to let this slide again!”
Vivienne smirked. “Mr. Victor, it’s one thing for your brain to not work well, but is there something wrong with your ears too? Tell me, which part of Ms. Lillian’s statement said I pushed her?”
Victor opened his mouth to argue but was suddenly at a loss for words. “Even if Lillian won’t say it, I know it was you!”
Vivienne raised an eyebrow. “Oh? And how do you know? Are you clairvoyant?”
“Vivienne, you…”
“Enough.” Edmund’s deep voice cut through their argument. “Vivienne, did you push Lillian or not?”
“Why ask me?” Vivienne’s voice was cool. “Wouldn’t it be better to ask Ms. Lillian directly?” Edmund’s gaze flickered as he turned to Lillian. “Lillian, did Vivienne push you?”
Lillian’s eyes instantly reddened. She bit her lip, forcing a weak smile through her tears. “No, Ms. Everest didn’t push me. I just… tripped by accident…”
She said the words, but her hesitant expression and trembling voice told everyone otherwise.
Vivienne sneered inwardly. Trying to frame me while still keeping up your innocent act? The world doesn’t hand out favors so easily.
Vivienne’s tone remained indifferent. “Since Ms. Lillian says it wasn’t me, I’ll be leaving now.”
Victor was the first to protest. “How dare you walk away? Do you believe that I…”
Meeting Edmund’s gaze, Victor hesitated for a moment before changing his words. “Do you believe that I won’t call the cops on you?”
Vivienne turned back to him. “Go ahead. Call them now. Let’s see if the police believe you or Ms. Lillian. The victim herself has already said that I didn’t do it, what more do you want?”
Victor’s face turned red with anger. “That’s only because Lillian doesn’t want to put Theo and Eddy in a difficult position!”
