Cheating was rarely a one–sided affair. While people cursed the woman, the man couldn’t simply walk away unscathed either.
But Lillian, the homewrecker, was truly revolting. Instead of keeping a low profile, she flaunted her presence shamelessly and stirred up endless trouble.
She was far more insufferable than the average homewrecker.
With such a commotion breaking out, the kindergarten’s security personnel quickly stepped in to
intervene.
They remained professional and treated her with basic courtesy, but the disdain in their eyes still leaked through despite their efforts.
Lillian finally managed to escape in disgrace.
Aside from her own staged performances, she had never been so humiliated in her life. Clenching her fists, she swallowed the hatred boiling inside her.
This is all Vivienne’s fault! I wouldn’t be in this mess if not for her. Vivienne, I won’t let you off so easily!
Vivienne initially had no intention of accompanying August to the parent–child event. But August had no mother, and Dante was too busy to make time.
With wide, pleading eyes, August looked up at her. “Ms. Everest, we don’t have to join the games. Can you just come with me to the kindergarten and ask the teacher for leave? All the other kids have their parents with them, but my dad doesn’t care about me… I don’t want them to think I don’t have parents.”
Thinking of how August’s mother had passed away early on, Vivienne couldn’t help but soften.
There were many classes at the kindergarten. Simply asking for leave wouldn’t necessarily mean running into Edmund and Theo.
And even if she did, it wouldn’t matter. She just didn’t want to see people she disliked.
Vivienne nodded lightly. “Alright”
She deliberately avoided the event’s start time. By the time she and August arrived, the parent–child activities were already underway.
The playground buzzed with excitement and laughter.
Being just a child, August’s attention was immediately drawn to the lively scene.
He conddn’t help but glance toward the activity area. “Ms. Everest, can I go watch for a bit?”
Vivienne nodded gently. “Go ahead. I’ll wait here?
August hesitated. Ms. Everest, aren’t you coming?”
“No, I’ll stay here

August thought for a moment before deciding not to push her. “Okay, I’ll just take a quick look and come right back.”
Theo, on the other hand, was never this obedient. If he wanted to do something and she refused, he would immediately give her the cold shoulder.
Though he wouldn’t lash out, his silent treatment was exactly like Edmund’s.
A few minutes later, August returned, beaming with excitement. “Theo’s parents are amazing! They’re in first place right now!”
Vivienne’s heart tightened. “Theo’s parents?”
August’s expression was both envious and disappointed. “Yeah, at school, Theo always says his dad is the most amazing person in the world, and his mom is the most beautiful. He says they’re the best parents ever. A lot of kids didn’t believe him, so he told them he’d bring his parents to the event to prove it. And sure enough, they really are incredible!”
Vivienne stood there, dazed, unable to react for a long time.
Unaware of her distress, August continued, “Some kids at school saw a young lady picking him up before and thought she was Theo’s mom. But Theo said no. He said she was just the Harrington family’s nanny. Now that he won the game, he’s running around showing off his parents.”
Vivienne had already heard from Lillian that Theo only saw her as a nanny..
But hearing it from August still made her chest tighten, as if all the air had been sucked from her lungs.
No wonder Theo had always taken her care for granted.
She was just a nanny to him, no different from Kelly.
“Ms. Everest, you look so pale. Are you feeling sick?” August finally noticed that something was off. Worried, he asked, “Should we see a doctor?”
Vivienne gently patted his head and said softly, “No need. Let’s go find your teacher first.”
August obediently nodded. “Okay.”
Since it wasn’t convenient to bring August along while speaking with the teacher, he waited for her in the music room.
August had heard that Vivienne was a violinist, and he himself had a deep interest in the violin. He had even decided to learn from her.
