Lillian wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. “Earlier, I heard Victor say that Ms. Everest ignored Theo and ran off to a bar looking for escorts. And she’s been acting really strange lately. So I wanted to provoke Ms. Everest on purpose, to make her care more about Eddy and stop behaving like this.”
Victor added, “Vivienne went too far this time. Even if she didn’t consider Lillian, she should’ve at least thought about you and Theo! She’s caused a huge scandal online, and now everyone knows your relationship is a mess. Even Harrington Corporation’s stock value has been affected. That woman is nothing but trouble!”
Edmund remained silent for a few seconds before telling Lillian, “Focus on recovering. I’ll handle everything online.”
The impact of Vivienne’s video was far greater than any previous news.
Although Edmund managed to suppress all online discussions in just one day, some sharp–eyed netizens had already saved various photos and videos, spreading them in private circles with enthusiasm.
Many of Edmund’s business partners brought up the matter, some casually, others more directly, asking him what was really going on.
Even small online gossip accounts kept publishing bits and pieces of news. Though they were quickly shut down, the sheer intensity of the buzz was overwhelming, almost rivaling that of top celebrities.
Edmund was a legendary figure in Zurichale’s business world. Young, handsome, and far beyond the reach of entertainment industry heartthrobs, he was the dream man of countless women.
People had always seen him through a lens of admiration and prestige. But now, with that illusion shattered, his reputation was at risk of collapsing.
Even the always–stable Harrington Corporation was feeling the impact.
The long–silent Harrington family could no longer sit still.
That night, Vivienne received a call from Talia.
“Vivienne, do you want to destroy the Harrington Corporation with those things you exposed online? Get back to the Harrington residence immediately! I’ve already arranged for reporters. You need to clarify that you made all this up just to get Eddy’s attention! Back then, you shamelessly clung to my son to marry into wealth. After getting married, you never even went to work, spending his money every day. And now, you’re stabbing him in the back? Listen carefully, if Harrington Corporation suffers even the slightest loss because of you, you’ll be thrown out onto the streets!”
Vivienne listened without any expression.
From the very beginning, Talia had never liked her, believing she had used despicable means to climb into Edmund’s bed and marry him.
More than once, Talia had told her that if not for her, Edmund would have already married the wealthy heiress she had chosen for him—a well–educated woman with an impressive background, someone who was truly a match for the Harrington family and could bring great benefits to Harrington Corporation. Unlike Vivienne, who had nothing but a pretty face.

Now that Lillian was back, Talia hadn’t tried to rein in Edmund or remind him of his responsibilities. Instead, she mocked Vivienne for failing to keep a man’s heart, saying she deserved to be abandoned.
During the three years of her marriage to Edmund, Vivienne had endured countless humiliations and suppressions from Talia.
The worst was right after their wedding, when Talia would summon her to the Harrington residence every day to learn the rules.
She had been forced to do the laundry, cook, and handle housework. Talia even claimed she was unworthy of sitting at the table during family banquets.
At every banquet, Vivienne was the busiest one, running back and forth to serve tea and clear dishes, treated worse than a servant.
Yet, no matter how much she humbled herself, Talia was never satisfied.
She could never talk back or resist, or else she would be labeled as disrespectful and ill–bred.
In the past, Vivienne had always believed that since Talia was an elder and Edmund’s mother, she should give in and not make things difficult for Edmund.
But now, she had already given up on her child. There was no reason for her to endure Talia any longer.
“I’m not coming back.”
Vivienne no longer tiptoed around her words, carefully choosing them to avoid angering Talia.
She said coldly, “And please, hurry up and throw me out. Being the daughter–in–law of the Harrington family is embarrassing.”
Without waiting for a response, she hung up.
On the other end, Talia stared blankly at the disconnected call, unable to react for a long time.
Sitting beside her, Eleanor Harrington noticed her stunned expression and couldn’t help but ask, “Mom, is Vivienne coming over later? I want to eat the pastries she makes.”
