Chapter 30 Was This Your Goal All Along?
A tall, poised man with a cold and reserved demeanor walked in at a measured pace.

Edmund had strikingly refined features and a handsome face. Every movement he made exuded an effortless elegance, while an invisible yet overwhelming aura of power radiated from him, suffocating those around him.
Seeing him, Vivienne instinctively clenched her fists, a old glint flashing in her eyes.
However, the reporters reacted as if bees had spotted a lower, eagerly rushing toward Edmund.
“Mr. Harrington, are you here personally to uphold justice and turn in this murderer yourself?”
“Mr. Harrington, you’ve remained silent about Mrs. Harrington crashing her car into Ms. Lillian. The online discussions have been spiraling out of control. Does this mean you also believe Mrs. Harrington is a murderer?”
“Mr. Harrington, will you be divorcing Vivienne?”
The reporters swarmed Edmund, their cameras flashing wildly.
His striking face remained indifferent, his expression as cold as ever.
To their barrage of questions, he responded with only a calm, “Excuse me.”
Though his face showed no emotion and his gaze remained distant, when his eyes fell upon others, they carried a chilling weight that made their skin crawl.
Overwhelmed by his presence, the crowd hesitated, not daring to take another step
forward.
Edmund walked through them and said to Henry at his side, “Clear the crowd. The press conference is canceled.”
Gasps of shock erupted at his words.
But Edmund paid no mind to their reaction. With his long, well–proportioned legs, he strode directly toward Vivienne on stage.
A crisp, mocking laugh escaped Vivienne’s lips.
Despite the noisy crowd, her voice rang out clearly.
“Canceling the press conference? Mr. Harrington, are you afraid I’ll expose something damaging about Ms. Lillian? Afraid her secrets will come to light?”
Hearing Vivienne speak, the crowd immediately shifted their attention to her, snapping photos and recording footage at a frenzied pace.
“Secrets coming to light? What’s going on?”
“Is there another twist to this story?”

Vivienne wouldn’t have called this press conference without a reason.
Edmund stepped onto the stage, his dark eyes fixing of her.
He grabbed her wrist. “We’ll talk at home.”
Vivienne stepped back and coldly shook him off.

“Talk at home? So you still want me to take the fall for Ms. Lillian and bear all the public outrage?”
Edmund’s gaze darkened. “I’ll handle this. But for now, we’re leaving.”
Vivienne let out a sharp laugh. “Edmund, this isn’t like you.”
He knew that once the truth came out, Lillian would be entirely ruined. That was why he suddenly wanted to handle it.
Yet while the entire internet was tearing her apart, he was nowhere to be seen.
He was probably at the hospital, gently consoling Lillian, assuring her that he would take care of everything, while making sure to punish a so–called murderer like Vivienne.
Edmund’s patience seemed to wear thin. His voice turned cold. “Vivienne, how long do you plan to keep making a scene?”
“Making a scene?” Vivienne stared at him icily. “In your eyes, as long as I refuse to tolerate Lillian like you do, I’m just making a scene?”
Perhaps realizing he had no justification, Edmund fell silent for a moment.
Then he said, “I will give you an explanation and clear your name. Vivienne, you don’t want the whole world laughing at us, do you?”
Vivienne narrowed her eyes, thinking for a moment before responding, “Fine. Let’s talk first.”
Only then did Edmund’s expression ease slightly.
Vivienne turned and walked toward the backstage area.
If her guess was correct, the live broadcast had already been cut off.
Nothing she revealed today would reach the public.
All that would remain was the impression that she had held a press conference and revealed nothing, making a fool of herself.
Edmund could still protect Lillian through media control.
And if he wanted to, he could even turn this situation against her.
Edmund was truly ruthless.

In the backstage lounge, Vivienne looked at Edmund.
“Mr. Harrington, what do you want to say?”
His voice was deep and cold. “I’ll handle the online rumors and their impact on you…”
Before he could finish, Vivienne interrupted him lightly

“If your plan is just to suppress the news and silence people, I won’t accept it. Even if you wipe the internet clean, the reputation of being a vicious woman and a murderer will still be burned into everyone’s mind.”
She looked into his dark, unfathomable eyes and smiled faintly.
“Who knows? I might just trigger more public outrage and make people surround me again.”
Edmund’s gaze swept over the scabbed wound on her forehead, deepening slightly.
“I will clear your name.”
Vivienne let out a cold laugh. “After so much time, you finally want to clear my name?”
Edmund studied her, his voice slow and steady. “Name your conditions.”
Vivienne’s eyes flickered slightly. “I have two.”
Without hesitation, Edmund said, “Agreed.”
Vivienne replied calmly, “Mr. Harrington, it wouldn’t hurt to hear them first.”
“Go ahead.”
She said, “First, I want 14 million.”
Edmund’s dark eyes dimmed slightly. 14 million dollars was no small amount.
“What do you need that much money for?”
Vivienne answered indifferently, “Emotional distress and reputation damage compensation. After all the insults I’ve endured, do you think I’ll just let Ms. Lillian apologize and call it even?”
After a few seconds of silence, Edmund finally said, “Fine.”
Vivienne laughed coldly in her heart. For Lillian, he didn’t hesitate at all to throw out 14 million dollars without blinking.
Then, Edmund suddenly asked, “Was this your goal all along?”
Vivienne raised an eyebrow. “What?”
“You went through all this trouble just to get money from me?”
Her expression cooled, and she couldn’t be bothered to explain. “If that’s what you think, then sure.”
His dark eyes locked onto her, deep as a frozen lake, shadowed like a secluded valley.

“This footage came from your dashcam. You had evidence all along, but you never said anything or gave it to the police. Vivienne, you did this deliberately, didn’t you?”
She gave a cold smile, devoid of warmth. “Of course. If had shown it earlier, how could I have squeezed 14 million out of you, Mr. Harrington? Besides, I wanted to see what Ms. Lillian would do without
1 evidence. I also wanted to see how much you would be eve me. And it turned out just as I expected.”
There was no sadness or disappointment on Vivienne’s face, just an eerie calm, as if she were talking about someone else’s affairs.
Edmund frowned. “You allowed insults and hurts to come your way, all for the sake of money. Vivienne, is money really that important to you?”
