Secing Vivienne bleeding and injured, Edmund’s first words weren’t of concern. Instead, he asked, “Do you realize your mistake now?”
Even a stranger passing by would have at least asked if he were okay.
Yet her husband was waiting for her to admit she was wrong.
Vivienne couldn’t help but laugh.
Edmund frowned. “What are you laughing at?”
Vivienne wiped the blood off her forehead, but the rotten vegetable leaves and egg yolk smeared across her body made her look utterly pathetic.
“I’m laughing at myself for wasting all these years of effort. Might as well have fed it to a dog.
She gave up on fixing her appearance and looked straight at Edmund, who was sitting in the car. Her face was expressionless as she said, “So this is how you make me regret it? Getting people to cyberbully me, sending some people after me to avenge your precious Lillian?“)
Edmund was silent for a few seconds. “You think I was behind all of this?”
“Wasn’t it you?” Vivienne chuckled. “I just moved into my new place. Even with doxxing, there’s no way they could’ve found me this fast. For them to pinpoint my location so quickly and accurately, who else could it be but you? Didn’t you have Victor send me a message saying I would regret this?”
She stared into Edmund’s eyes. “If you can’t bear to see Lillian suffer, why not just divorce me? That way you two can be together openly, without any guilt.”
A flicker of anger crossed Edmund’s face. “Vivienne, I’ve explained the situation to you countless times. There is nothing between Lillian and me. Can you stop making such a scene?”
Vivienne sneered. “If we’re not divorcing, then get used to me making a scene.”
Edmund’s gaze grew cold. “So you’re determined to be this stubborn?”
Vivienne answered, “Yes.”
Edmund let out a bitter laugh, his anger barely restrained. “Fine. I hope you never come begging me for anything.”
With that, he drove off without looking back.
Another day and night passed, but the public frenzy around Vivienne hadn’t died down.

Edmund never spoke up for her, nor did he suppress the news. His silence was taken as a silent confirmation of her guilt, turning her into a pariah that everyone attacked without hesitation.
While Edmund remained quiet, Lillian posted on social media.

“My hospitalization has nothing to do with Ms Everest The incident where I fell into the water was just an accident, and we’ve already reached an understanding have no intention of holding Ms. Everest accountable. As for the rumors that she stole my boyfriend, that’s all in the past. Please don’t mention it
anymore.”
The moment this post went live, the internet exploded.
She claimed the drowning incident had been resolved and that she wasn’t pursuing Vivienne for it, but that only confirmed Vivienne had indeed pushed her into the water.
And in the end, when she brought up the old rumors, she didn’t deny them at all. Instead of clearing Vivienne’s name, she made it sound as if Vivienne really had been the other woman who stole her man.
But the truth was, Lillian, Edmund, and Victor all knew one thing for certain. When Vivienne and Edmund got together, he and Lillian had already broken up.
Then, another scandal surfaced. Someone exposed rumors of Vivienne and Adrian being involved.
Adrian was a rising star, known for both his looks and talent. He was a recognized musical genius.
But now, accused of having an affair with a married woman–no less- he faced a wave of backlash too.
And that wasn’t the end of it. Trouble never came alone
The police showed up.
“Ms. Everest, someone has reported you for attempted murder. Please come with us for the investigation.T
Vivienne was taken to the interrogation room.
Conspiracy theories flourished online. Some people even called for her execution.
But speculation wasn’t evidence.
Just like with Lillian’s drowning and her fall nearly getting her hit by a car, there was no solid proof that Vivienne had tried to kill her.
The interrogation lasted from morning to night. In the end, when the detectives found nothing concrete, they had no choice but to release her.
Just as she stepped out of the room, a young officer hurried over to the lead investigator and whispered something in his ear.
The investigator’s eyes darkened. He asked in a low voice, “Are you sure?”
The officer nodded firmly.
The investigator turned to Vivienne. “Ms. Everest, a new witness has come forward. This case needs further. investigation. I’m afraid you can’t leave just yet.”
A witness? If there really was one, the story wouldn’t have dragged on for so long. And now, out of nowhere, one suddenly shows up?
Vivienne experienced a chilling sensation throughout her body, as if she had been plunged into an icy

That person likely knew her current situation and had deliberately sent someone at this exact moment to point her out, intent on sealing her fate.
The sheer malice behind it was enough to send shivers down one’s spine!
The interrogator looked at Vivienne with a polite demeanor, but his voice carried undeniable authority. “Ms. Everest, please cooperate with our investigation.”
Vivienne quickly regained her composure. “May I ask who the witness is?”
The officer shook his head. “Apologies, but to ensure the witness’s safety, we cannot disclose their identity at this time. If you have any objections, Ms. Everest, you may contact an attorney or call a friend to arrange bail.”
Everything had happened so suddenly that Vivienne hadn’t even had time to find a lawyer.
Adrian was already caught in the storm of public opinion. She couldn’t turn to him.
Serena was too naive to go up against Edmund. If she said the wrong thing and gave others something to use against them, she might end up dragged into this mess as well.
Is Edmund just waiting for me to give in and admit I’m wrong? Or is he planning to keep me locked up as a suspect forever?
A trace of mockery flickered in Vivienne’s eyes.
She lowered her long lashes and said indifferently, “I understand.”
Just as the officer was about to take her to the holding cell, a deep, magnetic male voice, rich and smooth like a cello, suddenly rang out.
“Ms. Everest.”
Vivienne lifted her head.
A young man in a white dress shirt stood leisurely not far away.
His features were strikingly handsome, his aura exuding effortless charm. The slightly unbuttoned collar added a touch of defiance to his otherwise refined appearance.
A faint, perfectly measured smile played on his thin lips, while his deep eyes, like peach blossoms drifting on a dark lake, held an enticing, almost wicked allure.
“Mr. Sinclair?” Vivienne’s expression faltered. “What are you doing here?”
Isn’t he supposed to be back this weekend?
Dante smiled faintly. “August told me that you ran into some trouble.”
August.
Vivienne’s expression shifted slightly.

Ever since that morning when he had gotten egged, she had sent August home for the time being.
She didn’t know when her situation would be resolved and staying by her side was simply too dangerous.
Ever since her troubles began, Edmund and Theo had gone completely silent–not a single call, not even a
message.
Meanwhile, August had been calling and texting her every day, checking in on her well–being.
A boy she barely knew had shown more concern for her than her husband and son, who, instead of reaching out, still had the time to travel around with Lilian as if nothing had happened.
Dante turned to Vivienne. “Let’s talk outside. I’ve already taken care of your bail. We can leave now.”
Vivienne remained silent for a few seconds before nodding lightly. “Thank you.””
Meanwhile, when Henry walked in the office, he saw the man watching the large television mounted on the wall.
The news was broadcasting footage of Vivienne getting pelted with eggs and surrounded by an upset crowd.
She looked utterly miserable, like a stray dog with nowhere to run.
Henry shifted his gaze awkwardly before speaking in a quiet voice. “Mr. Harrington, not long ago, Ms. Everest was taken in for questioning. Apparently, a witness provided evidence… If no one posts bail, she may end up detained.”
After a brief hesitation, Henry asked, “Should we get someone to bail her out?”
Edmund glanced at him. “When did this happen?”
“This morning.”
Edmund looked down at his phone.
The screen was empty. There was not even a single call. Not even a single text message was received.
“So she’d rather hunt down and humiliate herself in public, unable to even step outside, than lower her head?”
Amusement flickered across Edmund’s thin lips, curving into a cold smirk.
“She likes to act tough, doesn’t she?” His voice was laced with indifference. “Let her be. She can rot in there
for all I care.
