The man was tall and well–proportioned, his features sculpted and striking, his peach–blossom eyes shimmering with an entrancing light, his expression ful of an unrestrained roguish charm.
“August, you’ve been naughty again. His voice was deep and magnetic, quite pleasant to hear.
However, the little boy trembled slightly and moved closer into Vivienne’s embrace.
Seeing this, Vivienne shielded the boy behind her and sked, ‘Sir, may I ask who you are to this child?”
The man seemed to notice Vivienne for the first time, is noble eyebrows arching slightly.
“Who am I to him? I’m naturally the boy’s father.”
Vivienne looked skeptical. “Are you sure?”
The man’s lips curled into a casual, mischievous smile. Otherwise, we could call the police and let them investigate.”
“Fine. Vivienne pulled out her phone, ready to make the call.
The boy gently tugged on her sleeve. “No need for the police. He… he’s my dad.”
Vivienne looked at the boy and then at the handsome man in front of her, sensing something off in the atmosphere between the father and son. But since the boy had acknowledged him, she didn’t press further.
She softly told the boy, “Little guy, since your dad is here, you should go back with him.”
But the boy suddenly said, “I don’t want to go back with him!”
Vivienne guessed the boy might have had a disagreement with his family, which led to him running away.
Just as she was about to mediate, she heard the man’s languid voice. “If you don’t want to go back, then don’t.
Vivienne and Serena both looked at him in surprise.
The young man spoke again, “My name is Dante Sinclair, and I am August’s father.”
Vivienne eyed him silently, unsure of his intentions.
Dante continued, “It’s rare for August to take such a liking to someone. So, I’d like to ask this lady to occasionally look after him while he rests. I’ll pay you 14.000 dollars a month, with all expenses concerning August fully reimbursed. How does that sound to you, Miss?”
Serena couldn’t help but glance at Dante again.
Looking after him only when he rests, 14,000 dollars a month plus expenses… it sounded like easy money. Knowing that a salary like that was already quite good for someone grinding away in the corporate world, she couldn’t resist the temptation.

However, judging by the man’s attire and demeanor, he was clearly a wealthy capitalist.
Vivienne instinctively declined, “Sorry, I can’t…”

Dante cut her off, “28,000 dollars.”
“Mr. Sinclair, it’s not about the money…
“70,000 dollars.”
Vivienne was somewhat exasperated. “Mr. Sinclair, it really isn’t about the money…
“140,000 dollars.”
Vivienne fell silent. Okay, she admitted, there really was no problem money couldn’t solve. Although she was married to Edmund and had seen her fair share of the world, her monthly expenses weren’t extravagant. Moreover, she didn’t care for luxury items like bags and jewelry, spending most of her time at home taking care of Theo, so she rarely needed money!
She had never considered cashing out with Edmund’s card. The money she had spent on herself over the years didn’t even total 14,000 dollars.
Now, with Edmund having frozen her cards and her planning to start a studio with Adrian, she needed significant amount of startup capital.
She couldn’t just let Adrian invest money while she only contributed labor.
With this goal in mind, Vivienne asked, “Mr. Sinclair, what exactly would I need to do?”
Dante smiled, satisfied. “I’m usually very busy with work and don’t have much time to spend with him. Miss…”
He paused, then asked, “What’s your name?”
Vivienne replied, “Vivienne Everest.”
“Your job is simple. If he’s staying with you, you’ll need to drive him to and from school, prepare his meals, and keep him company while he rests.”
Dante’s voice was relaxed. “Of course, it’s fine if you want to take him to amusement parks, summer camps, or other places on trips.” Arrange as you see fit. These expenses will be reimbursed separately.”
Serena’s eyes turned green with envy. Paid vacations are an incredible benefitt
Vivienne’s eyes flickered. “He… would be staying with me?”
Dante raised an eyebrow at her. “What, you’d rather stay with me? I wouldn’t mind, but Ms. Everest, you’re so young: I’m afraid your husband or boyfriend might misunderstand.”
Dante’s remark made her realize a potential issue she hadn’t considered. She and Dante looked to be about the same age; living with him could indeed lead to gossip.
Plus, Dante’s wife might not appreciate her husband spending so much time with another woman.

Vivienne thought for a moment, then asked another question, “Docs August’s mother agree with this arrangement?”
Dante was silent for a few seconds. “I
Dante was silent for a few seconds. “His mother has passed away.”
Vivienne quickly apologized, “I’m sorry.”
Dante dismissed it, “It’s fine. It’s been many years.”
Vivienne looked down, her gaze at August filled with a new layer of sympathy.
She nodded, then added, “Mr. Sinclair, aren’t you worried I might mistreat him after taking him home?”
Dante’s voice was rich and confident, laced with an undeniable arrogance. “My son? Who would dare mistreat him?”
Right, Dante was clearly no ordinary man; mistreating his child was akin to signing one’s own death
warrant.
Furthermore, if he felt secure enough to allow her to bring August home, he would undoubtedly have someone monitoring them. The offer was tempting, but the money wouldn’t be easy to earn without integrity.
She wasn’t the type to commit misdeeds, so she wasn’t afraid of being watched by Dante.
Vivienne asked, “When do I start working?”
“You can start right now.” Dante checked his watch. “I have to leave on a sudden trip soon and will probably be back by the weekend. In the meantime, you can look after August. Ms. Everest, any more questions? If not, I need to get going.”
“One last question,” Vivienne looked down at the quiet August. “This child doesn’t seem very healthy; are there any dietary restrictions or anything else I should be aware of?”
Dante was slightly surprised and raised an eyebrow, “You know about medicine?”
Vivienne paused, then continued, “I’ve studied traditional medicine for a few years and understand some common issues with children. I don’t know much about August yet. Could Mr. Sinclair ask the nanny who usually takes care of him to send me a document detailing his daily preferences and routines?”
Dante’s gaze intensified, his earlier casual demeanor fading as he looked at her with newfound depth.
Vivienne was startled by his intense gaze and asked instinctively. “Mr. Sinclair, did I… say something wrong?”
